2010 WSOP: No longer okay to stink at the poker table |

 A new rule was recently inducted into the 2010 World Series of Poker Official Tournament Rules. The new rule says that it's not okay to have a bad smell while taking part in any of the WSOP events. If someone doesn't take care of their hygiene, the tournament staff has the right to tell the player about his bad hygiene, and also take him off the table until the problem has been taken care of.
2010 World Series of Poker Official Tournament Rules: 37 B
All participants are entitled to expect civility and courtesy from one another at every Tournament table and throughout the
Tournament area. Any individual who encounters behavior that is not civil or courteous -- or is abusive in any way -- is encouraged
to immediately contact a Tournament official. This shall include, but is not limited to, any player whose personal hygiene has become disruptive to the other players seated at their table. The determination as to whether an individual's personal hygiene is disruptive to other players shall be determined by the Tournament Staff which may, in its discretion, implement sanctions upon any such player who refuses to remedy the situation in a manner satisfactory to Rio.
After reading this, you probably think that it's a silly rule and that it's not a bit deal, but believe it or not - the WSOP crew has received a lot of good feedback from previous WSOP participants after that this new rule was invented. In other words, the "bad hygiene issue" has been something that many have complained about in the past few World Series of Poker.

| Hahah, I read the title and was expecting something along the lines of this (not some Helmuth-rage). And I do think the rule is spot on, although I wonder if it was introduced because of someone in particular?

Great rule man, who wants to sit down next to a really smelly freak? and who want to sit there breathing in all there fumes...not me for sure.
Thats the best rule ever.... so do the players have to alert the tourny staff?
can you just have an open vote "so who's the smellyest of all" vote now.....fantastic.

My shit smells like roses, so ill be ok.
Fair rule I think, theres no need for anyone to stink, IMO its just respect for outhers.
But think if I dont like the guy to my right killing my action I could now just drop a bomb and give him a disgusting look, then call the manager. :}

| Lol i remember the guy they showed on Tv a few years back that smelled really bad at the WSOP and everyone was complaining at the table...Im guessing this is how this rule came about

| I think it is a good rule, because i wouldn't be too happy playing besides a smelly guy, I would tend to get more frustrated and make bad decisions.

| wow, that is really dumb rule if you think about it, what about cig smell, then perfume smells bad, then after shave smells and then what if someone has a medical condition that makes him smell, what they should tell the disabled to F off, lol, BIG lawsiut waiting to happen

Hahaha funny rule... but if i would sit close to some fat stinking nerd i would start to love that rule.
Gabe~ for the sick people maybe they will make new rule... saying some people can play with special papers to be stinking lol... sorry i couldn't stop myself.

| they should ban it all though, Perfume and stuff like that, some women have to put so much on its impossible to stand it, I hate that smell myself, so Ban it ALL or NONE

Its actually a good rule. A lot of hardcore poker players dont shower at all and if you sometimes play poker live, it is very annoying (and disgusting) for someone like that to be sitting next to you.
Not to mention their hands make the cards oily and a deck of nice shiny cards turns grey after 10 hands >_>

i think its a justified rule. why should someone be made to suffer because you can't take care of yourself ?
imo if someone doesn't have the right etiquettes, they don't deserve to play

lool wow i agree completly with this rule if you sit like 8-10 hour with a players at your left that stink. if you are able to pay 1000$ to 10 000$ to have your entry to this big event at least pay five buck to buy a old spice stick! maybe stink is use to distracte other players from their gane
