Full Tilt under investigation

Tags: chris ferguson, free money, full tilt poker, howard lederer, investigation, no deposit bonus.
Posted on Wednesday, April 07, 2010 by "T".

The poker giant Full Tilt Poker is being investigated by a federal jury in Manhattan at the moment. The main owners of Full Tilt Poker, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson are 2 named persons in the investigation. They are accused of money-laundering and breaking the american gambling laws.

According to Nelson Rose, an author of books on gambling law, the government is trying to make example on Howard (right) and Ferguson (left) because they are both 2 well-known faces in the poker world.

Full Tilt denies that they have been breaking any american gaming law as they claim that their business in run from Alderney, an Island in the English channel. We will probably have to wait a few weeks or even months before the jury has completed the investigation.

The $25 no deposit at Full Tilt Poker is finally back! Don't miss out on this great offer!

This has had to happen. Now we will see if the construction of subfirms in the Full Tilt empire works as planed. I see a headline coming "Jesus behind bars"
 SCDossett4/7/2010 9:57:38 AM GMT
I dont live in the us but I don't really get what the big fuss is.

Anyone want explain it? the investigation is based on the fact that they let American players play?
 pokeristas774/7/2010 10:01:51 AM GMT

Yep.

Based on US law this is illegal. That is why Party and others don't accept players from the US.
 IslandJack4/7/2010 10:05:16 AM GMT
I don't get it.
What are they supposedly doing wrong?

Care to explain shokaku?

Care to explain shokaku?

As i see it the US wants to stop its people to play online and introduced the UIGEA law package. A lot of poker rooms responded and pullled out of the US market. (At that time Party was the biggest room) Stars and Full Tilt continued to offer games to US players and took over the top positions.

This investigation will show if the Full Tilt construction of its business (a company developing the software is based in the US, but the company offering the games is basen in the channel islands) falls under the US laws or not.
 SCDossett4/7/2010 10:15:28 AM GMT
Its a shame if all online sites are removed from america. America being the home of big poker. That might change if players cant play from home and win there way into tournaments like the WSOP.
 B1gfoot4/7/2010 10:29:20 AM GMT
What is happening is the US is jamming a thumb up its citizens asses and telling them they can shit when the govenment lets them, unlike the US to try and controll PPL.
On the bright side now they can have the thumb removed for free.

As shokaku points out it does not fall under US law as its operated overseas.
But they wil give up on that and go for the money laundering charges as they know all outher countries will have to comply.
Funny how they can all have responsability to carry agun but not trusted to spend thier money as they wish.
 IslandJack4/7/2010 10:56:11 AM GMT
They can spend their money as long as the Government gets a cut, like in Vegas. The biggest gambling country in the world does not allow online gambling... Aww crap!

It's like so many states are FOR the death penalty, but AGAINST abortion (like with rape).
You can take life and you can't take life....
Not expressing an opinion on these matters, just stating a contradiction in terms.

As to the gun thing, I think they see it as an extention of their dicks, no?

I used to live in the states a loooong time ago, by the way.
 dozn014/7/2010 10:58:51 AM GMT

Its because too much USA Dollar are floating abroad thru online poker.
 SCDossett4/7/2010 11:19:06 AM GMT
I can see how the government could get their panties in a twist if they are losing out on taxes from winners. But i thought that internet poker was taxable. And it shouldn't be hard to track the big winners.
 SuperNoob4/7/2010 11:23:36 AM GMT
atleast this whole thing will end after this investigation is over either americans will be able to play or they wont be able to but it will be some time before the investigation is over till then all americans dont knw wht their future is gonna be

I really hope all will be solved very soon. I can't believe even FT have problems with law. Seems very strange to me
 crackfinder4/7/2010 1:41:20 PM GMT
Clearly they just want to make an example out of FTP, i doubt that did anything that other rooms don't do. Someone always has to suffer when ever US wants to tell ppl don't "F" with us.

haha, lol i was hoping that wasn't the case and I'd have to eat my words lol

That sux tho, lucky PS. This gonna drag out for a long time. I wonder if FTP will suspend US players for time being?
 ierons4/8/2010 2:31:05 AM GMT
i dont know if this link will work, you can google full tilt manhattan da and get another link to the article.

so, sources say da is investigating full tilt. quite frankly, this would suck but ivey, lederer and feguson, etc. are most likely the best defendants we can get on this issue. bring it on you misguided fuks imo.
 psycokiller4/8/2010 2:31:51 AM GMT
Since UIGEA has been challanged by poker communities as being unconstitutional, the government is trying to sway public opinion back into their favor by trying to prove that online sites are criminal. Part of their campaign is to have a high profile case against a well known site. Just wouldn't have the same effect to go after BigBet or Doyle's Room since they are small in comparison to FTP. FTP has also been the most vocale in fighting the legislation so makes sense to go after the loudest critic.
 watoba4/8/2010 1:38:55 PM GMT
the us politicans are very crasy last time i read a politican want banned baggy pants. And now banned online poker. But the us had a own gambling city( las vegas).Thats so crasy

Lots of US players will be pissed if FTP closes their doors to US players. what i can see now is these people from the us might migrate to other countries so that they'll be able to continue playing poker. i know some people who moved from the us to other countries just to be able to play.

best place to come for them would be the UK for the tax reasons on gambling that would be good we would get them all on the poker shows here more often doing battle with europe
 xxxbchxxx4/9/2010 4:39:02 PM GMT
I must have been in a new bubble just lately... i didnt know anything about this...
Oh well im sure it wont make any difference to FTP they are getting bigger and bigger this news will just add to there fortune im sure.
Also it'll bring FTP to the front of the poker news so they will then get even more players... new sign ups ect.
Any publicity is good publicity... or so they say.

 catavl4/11/2010 12:06:18 PM GMT
I thought youre gonna say full tilt was rigged. Is it? I play heads up on sit&go and i win my first 5 games than i lose 5 games. That a rule. So i just lost the rake (aprox 2$). On losing games i get very good cards before the flop and nothing down, and on winning games i get like 7 2 or 83 and always win.
 Alelkz164/18/2010 8:57:32 PM GMT
ok if the americans are banned from the ftp, then it would be easier to win but the site would be smaller than ipoker and sometimer a dont find enought player at the ipoker network
ComeOn That supose to be a free country where id the democracy they talk about does americans really are voting for their laws??? Come on americans do somthing to change ur stupid laws, You cant stop was but come on stop this

what they should be investigating is how rigged full tilt is . i would love to take a bat to the machines that " randomly'' deal the cards. ive never seen so many flushes overr flushes or bigger full houses over smaller full houses or runner runner flushes in my life!!!! its almost comical

..Yeah, it sucks bigtime when you see stuff like this happen, doesn't it?.. but people keep playing there, and the pros keep playing there vast amounts, and after a while everyone seems to forget these comical bad beats and they keep feeding the FTP machine with cash... not to say that the same hilarious things don't happen on all the other sites... it's just that FTP is so ahead in giving its players what it promised to give in the first place: T I L T!!!!!! Worship Worship Big Smile
One and only advice I can give to anybody: PLAY FREEROLLS - YOU GOT NOTHIN' TO LOSE!... (whoa!.. this motto is so good, I should make it a bumper sticker... lol Big Smile )
