German Steffen Sontheimer emerged as the top winner in partypoker's Caribbean Poker Party $250,000 buy-in NLHE Super High Roller Championship, earning a humongous $3,685,000 cash prize which is by far his biggest ever live tourney score.

The event drew in 34 players with a prizepool of over $7.5 million. However, only 4 players would end up getting a payout.

On the final day of the event, there were only six players remaining: Nick Petrangelo, partypoker ambassador Isaac Haxton, Mikita Badziakouski, David Peters, Sean Winter and Steffen Sontheimer.

On the final hand, it was Sontheimer versus Winter.

Sontheimer got A-K of hearts

Winter got A-Q offsuit

The board ran 10-5-3-4-9 (with 3, 4 and 9 being hearts), thereby making Sontheimer the winner, with Winter being sent to the rail as runner-up with still a fairly plump sum of cash.

This is currently Sontheimer's biggest payday in his poker career and his third time to score in the seven-figure range.

He won first place for $1,512,000 in Poker Masters Event #5 back in September 2017.

He finished runner-up and took home $1,223,264 in the Aria Super High Roller19 back in May 2017.

At just 28 years old, Sontheimer now stands at 6th place (previously 12th) in the Germany All Time Money List.

This game was incredible.
Only when you think to the fact that the entrance cost 250,000 dollars it seems like you're gonna be dizzy. This amount of money for a game is exorbitant and probably had multiple online satellites.
4 players have won impressive sums and they deserve to be congratulated for this.
I think this game was superb.

Lucky guy. Of course he worked for it hard but that winning hand is an absolute crusher in terms of available scenarios and tournament ending hands - he could not have it all a better way to be honest. Three million dollars could buy you a lot of things, wonder how much percentage he sold beforehand.

It must be a great feeling to be able to pay a quarter of million dollars just to enter a tournament. These tournaments are getting more and more popular and it really does fetch the very best poker players in the world out to play

So we have high roller tournaments and super high roller ones? Smile
That buy in is not easy to push.
The field of course wast huge with only 34 players in, but with only four places
getting paid, you would need to do one of your best games ever and being very lucky also.
This prize was worth it Smile

Very best or the ones with the very deepest wallet? There is need to be some distinction between the two.

wow,to have 250 K dollars for buy in is just sick and that you can lost it and dont care much about them is sick!I know that is reason for low number of players and that this cant pay lot of people on world, but still cant imagine that feel after you lose at this kind of tournament!
congratulation to winner!

To me personally it is very bad structure of tournament, you pau very very big buyin of 250000 dollars and only four people get something back, of course not thousand of olayers, only 34, but they are all good players and not easy to be in top 4. I think better play 25 tournament of 10000 buyin

Yes the field was a small one indeed, but even if you had the money, would you go for it?
More chances to win, since there were only 34 players in but still.
With only four paying positions i dont think i would be interested playing this tournament.
So much more you could have done with all that money Smile

The betting system is a disastrous one, this is true, but they could have paid 10 places.
9 players with 750 k and for the winner 750 k plus rest of the money of these awards.
Most poker players play for money and for this kind of tournament with huge buy-in, separate rules need to be made.
Maybe in the future they will change something.

Massive well done to Steffen Sontheimer on winning the $250,000 buy-in Super High Roller Championship and scooping $3.685 million! There weren't many entrants in the event. Will I ever get a chance to play such a prestigious event in my life? Probably not.
