Even if there wasn't a WSOP bracelet awaiting the top winner, the prize money is reward enough for most poker players who have joined in on the opening event of WSOP 2018.
On May 29, 2018 (Tuesday), the $250 Daily Deepstack was the opening event to this year's WSOP, and the one who bagged the event was five-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham. He managed to defeat a field of 298 players, claiming the top prize money worth $14,084.
It looks like the 41-year-old "Clever Piggy" is aiming to get that WSOP title no. 6 this year. Actually, it has been a very long time since he last won a WSOP title - he won the $5K Pot Limit Hold'em event for $487,287 back in 2007.
Allen Cunningham is a former Civil Engineering student at the UCLA. He started playing poker at Indian casinos at 18 years old. He is best known for his mild demeanor and analytical play. He was named Toyota Player of the Year at the 2005 WSOP.
His single biggest tournament win was back at the 2006 WSOP - he finished 4th place in the Main Event, taking home the $3,628,513 prize money.
Allen Cunningham currently lives in Las Vegas with girlfriend (also a poker player) Melissa Hayden and their dog.
Thanks to this most recent win, the American poker pro now has a total lifetime earnings of $11,726,459 in his poker career.
