Baccarat Player caught Cheating attempts to Bribe IGC Agent with Big Macs

Either the Indiana Gaming Commission agent doesn’t like fast food, or maybe he should have offered some super-sized Big Macs instead?

Of course, when it comes to being arrested due to a gambling-related crime, it is very risky to bribe your way out of this mess, but if you are desperate, remember that bribing someone with fast food is not the very best of ideas out there, most especially if you don’t even have the mouthwatering burgers and fries on hand.

In late July, a man from Indiana was arrested at the Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg after he was caught cheating at a baccarat game via “past post” betting. This means that he attempted to place a bet after the game’s outcome was revealed. Even if the stakes at the time were low, it is still deemed a serious crime.

Justin Athey, age 34, denied trying to cheat the casino when he was confronted by an on-site agent of the state’s Gaming Commission. However, Athey did something unusual to get out of this predicament.

The Indiana Gaming Commission agent wrote in a probable cause affidavit, “When I advised Athey that what he had done was considered Cheating at a Gambling Game and that it was a Level 6 Felony, he immediately said that he didn’t mean to do it. He said I wouldn’t try and cheat the casino. Athey asked if he was going to jail; he said I can’t go to jail, I’m here trying to make my house payment. He also said I’ll get you as many free [McDonald’s] Big Macs that you want.”

Of course, the offer went up in smoke, and on August 7 Athey was charged with the felony.

If convicted, Athey is looking at six months to approximately two years behind bars.

Here’s a copy of the affidavit filed by the Indiana Gaming Commission agent:

I do like a big mac but i don't think that i could be bribed with some!!! I really do not know what this guy was thinking when he offered this inducement but this has got to be one of the craziest and weirdest things i have read in a while

he,he,this is for me funny story and dont have much else to say!he want to make house payment from this and then he want to buy as many big macs if he want!what a way to bribe somebody!but this move,to make later bets is just silly!

Those moments, when a Big Mac just isn't big enough. Actions of an amateur throughout the story. The very simple try to cheat the casino, and then the stunt with the fast food after getting caught. This guy surely was not a big fish.

What a bright idea that was. To bribe someone with fast food Smile
We will continue to get surprised with the things we hear with all of
them cheating in a casino, or with a crime related to it.
Now he will need a good lawyer, to get out of this "predicament"

This young man without a brain tried to bribe with poisoned food from McDonalds. Someone can say about this man: that he does not need psychiatric control? I say yes, because he needs a suspended sentence and a visit to a psychiatric hospital. It is good that he did not offer it a bottle of water. Smile

Honestly I thought whenever someones caught cheating they just throw him out if the establishment and not bothering with felony charges. Seems weird esp. on a low stakes table.

but to choose method to make late bets and to do so many times that is just crazy,in casino where you have so many cameras and people who watch what players and dealers do!but ok,now he will pay for this, probably few years in jail!

There are many that trying the story with the late bets, like in roulette also.
I have been in a casino with a player trying it. The first time the dealer didnt say anything,
since he didnt win after all, but the second time he tried it, he got a warning and the bet was removed Smile

I am really not a huge fan of McDonald's Big Mac. I can get much more tasty burgers and sandwiches at 7-Eleven convenience store in Japan for under $2.50. I do like McDonald's breakfast items, though. My most favorite is Sausage McMuffin with Egg and Cheese. Yummy.

And I don't remember the last time I ate McDonald's Big Mac.

It is incredible I wanted to make a grace and it came out expensive, now he should pay a sentence in jail and it only occurred to him to offer some burgers specifically Big Mac, hahahaha the things that happen every day

This is a case of pure stupidity or this man has mental problems. You can not think like this man. To be honest, you can make a short comedy movie with this subject. You talk to this man and you ask him about his plans before doing so and then the details. It is even a joking subject.

Yeah, their breakfast stuff are unbeatable.
Do Japan have some kind of 'artisan' burger place where they serve items where the burger patty is made of kobe beef?

Steak Sandwich
It's (probably) not made with Kobe beef but looks pretty good.

I think Kobe beef (not of the best quality) burger costs around $10 at fast-food restaurants. I have no idea how much a 100% Kobe beef burger costs at high-end restaurants.
