Swansea City AFC
Last season:
After two great seasons with Brendan Rodgers and then Michael Laudrup managing the club they were last year struggling a lot more. Being in the Europa League combined with a few injuries on key players such as Michu didn’t help and finally Laudrup was fired with a couple of months left of the season. After being involved in the relegation battle they managed to get four wins out of the last seven matches and finish in the 12th spot.
2014/15-season preview:
Gary Monk went straight from playing to managing in something that from outside looked like a interim manager-solution until the summer came. But the club was impressed with his results and handed him a new 3-year contract. Despite the loss of Michu to Napoli and the duo of Ben Davies and Michael Vorm to Spurs the teams has brought in a couple of exciting recruitments like former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski, Ecuadorian World Cup winger Jefferson Monteiro and the come backing Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. They have also brought in Lyon striker Gomis who is seen as replacement for Michu.
Player profile:
Wilfried Bony was the striker who put the national hero Didier Drogba on the bench in the Ivory Coast World Cup team. Clubs such as Liverpool and Tottenham have been rumoured to be very keen on the strong striker who scored 16 goals during his debut season in the Premier League. If he is still in the squad by the time the window closes the club can expect him to keep on scoring goals for them this season.
Summary:
After last years disappointing campaign the club is now rebuilding and the aim is to get to the top half of the table again. To succeed with that the new players must hit the ground running for the Swans this year.
Prediction:
13th place
