The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has recently held a meeting with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) to discuss collaborative efforts associated with responsible gambling, sports betting integrity and anti-money laundering.
The MGA CEO Carl Brincat and Chief of Policy and International Affairs Kinga Warda were delighted to have a productive meeting with the UKGC Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes and Executive Director for Operations Kay Roberts, who visited Malta for a period of two days.
They discussed knowledge-sharing initiatives between their respective Responsible Gambling teams. By working together, both regulators aim to reinforce their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of fair play and player protection within their own jurisdictions.
The regulators also emphasized the importance of information sharing with regards to sports betting integrity, AML/CFT and compliance.
The MGA also shared their experience gained through the sandbox environment which had been launched for the use of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLTs) and the acceptance of cryptocurrencies by partner gaming operators. This resulted in a dedicated policy that was published earlier this year.
The UKGC, on the other hand, shared its latest progress on the UK's Gambling Act White Paper. The two regulators also discussed formalizing their joint relationship through a Memorandum of Understanding.
