Jake Paul confidently bet his entire $40 million purse on the outcome of his fight with Mike Tyson on Friday, November 15.
On photo: Jake Paul took bets from many fighters prior to his fight against Mike Tyson, including Katie Taylor who dared him to bet his entire eight-figure purse as she backs Mike Tyson to win.
Paul shall be taking on heavyweight legend Tyson through eight rounds in Dallas in what would be the latter's first pro fight for nearly 20 years. Paul is deemed to start as the bookmakers' favorite as he is 31 years younger than the former undisputed heavyweight boxing champ.
As the two faced off for the penultimate time before the first bell, Paul took bets from many of the undercard fighters over the result of the main event. Neeraj Goyat staked his house, claiming it is worth $1 million. To take things up even higher, Katie Taylor, who shall be taking on Amanda Serrano in their eagerly-awaited rematch, challenged Paul to do something quite extreme.
Paul asked his co-main event female fighter Taylor, who will reportedly earn $6 million: "How much do you want to bet?, to which she replied: "Do you want to bet your purse?" Paul did not hesitate in confirming the wager, saying: "Yeah, let's bet the purse. Deal," as he shook Taylor's hand. Few expect the wagers to stand, but Paul insisted he would have contracts drawn up before Friday night.
Earlier this year, Paul bragged about his earnings from his 12th professional fight. When asked if he reeled in Tyson to add "validity" to his boxing career, Paul answered:
"I didn't bring him to do s***; I'm here to make $40million and knock out a legend, I don't give a f*** about anything else, he's the one who wanted it to be a pro fight and he's going to get his ass knocked out for real.
You're going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson; I'm not here to do s*** except make a bag. Every time fighters sit across from me and it's 'YouTuber this and Disney kid that' and they end up on the canvas... this is going to be no different. I brought this deal to this old ass motherf***er, we signed the contract with Netflix and we brought him the deal. You're welcome, my son."
Meanwhile, Mike Tyson showed frustration and offered short answers when asked about the possibility of losing to Paul: "I've said everything I had to say. I'm just looking forward to fighting. I am not going to lose."
In retort, Paul said: "It's cute. I fear no man, so I want him to be that old savage Mike."
Payouts for Jake Paul and Mike Tyson
Paul revealed he is making $40 million for the fight as he is serving as the promoter and talent. The 58-year-old Tyson is reportedly taking home $20 million for his efforts.
It sure is one of the strangest but intriguing combat sports events of our lifetime, so tune in to Netflix on Friday, November 15!
