the olympic games are nice for a lot of people, but someone has no life, and he ruined all the threads with his comments. People need sports because they also want to exercise, jogging, running, gym or whatever they want.

That's crazy, in Germany where I live, the athletes only get €20,000 for their gold medal, compared to that, athletes from Hong Kong get almost €700,000 for their gold medal. That's a joke, especially because Germany isn't doing too badly financially

it is not a rule that every country pays the same amount of money for a gold medal. Here it depends on the financial situation and what the governments in question decide.

The prizes here for the medals were 50k, 60k and 90k, plus some other perks. The coach of the medalist also, was up for half the amount of the ones the athletes got.

I think that athletes deserve 200,000 euros for a gold medal because once every 4 years is convenient. I don't think it's too much because this money no longer has the same value as it did 10-20 years ago.

Yeah . I googled it now and yeah it is true . It is 50K 60K and 90k for bronze silver and gold in Greece . I didn't know it . It seems a lot at a first glance , but if you take into consideration all their expenses for training , trainer etc then it is not . With 50K you don't even pay the salary of one trainer for four years to train you prior to the Olympics . Sooo.... They must do better
In Greece nowadays , like in many other countries , they focus on hiring foreign players to play for our country . I wish they gave this money to our own native greek athletes , to train and prepare themselves , that would be more right , ethical , admirable .
