Yesterday was my day off. So I had been doing some work around the house until ~21:00 CET. When I was done I decided to play some poker...
I sat down at a table at fulltilt with $100. I played a couple of hands and I was down to $60 (missed draws and lower pairs) then I got a set and lost it against a flush now I was down to $25. My wife called me and said I should go to sleep but I refused to give up my game knowing it would even out soon.
I kept playing and slowly I managed to build my stack up, $60 ... $80 and finally $100 again. I was really happy and decided to quit soon. When I left the table I had $120 and the time was around 00:30 CET.
My wife was still up reading a book and asked me what I was doing so long at the computer I told her I was playing poker. She asked me how did it go and I told her that I was up $20 dollars..
Now to my point I sat for several hours. I put in my heart and soul to win and managed to win $20. When my wife heard that she reacted really well ... ...telling me I was an idiot wasting my time/life for a stupid game.
You gotta love the game ...
EDIT : Saw the Create poll button and just wanted to try it out .. a new function I think. And also it is a long post .. sorry for that.

I know Mago sometimes it happens to me to. But now I felt like I was winning but the other players were winning more so I decided to win more than them and it turned out good. It's all about your confidence if you don't tilt and play your A-game and keep your head up then you can keep winning after a few losses.

Dont play such high limits with ur low bankroll! U say u have 100 $ and lost 35$ in 1 hand? Thats really crazy! U can even lost with 4 of a kind aces (as i did some weeks ago) if u then invest 30% of ur bankroll u are very fast broke.
U can be good as hell but sometimes u will loose some stacks! So dont play for 30% of ur bankroll.....

Hm?! I never said that $100 was my whole bankroll? I said that I sat down at a NL100 table with full buy-in. I don't know how you could get that to me sitting down with my whole bankroll.

What was her book about? I bet that the book wasn´t even 1/10 as exciting as the game! Who knows, next book she might be reading is "How I made 1 million from $20" by Rajko.

Haha great story rajko sounds just like me and girlie here in DK, im "gambling" with heart and soul in the evening while girlie are studying to be a nurse I think you have to love the game and really want to get better to become a winning player, dedication and discipline are important factors Great post don't say sorry I think it was a good post
PS. if you are not playing out of roll then you should rebuy instead of plying with 25 at NL100.

well I am very poor at managing my bankroll. I just cant seem to have fun when I play within my price range. I always have to bet alot so i get that adrenaline rush. Im trying to work on it though.

I had the same thing happen to me

And when I come home I would like quiet and play a little poker but I always get the " What did you do today? Waste your time playing poker?" When I was out the whole day. I like to play at least 3hours a day. usually at the down time. Kids asleep husband on night shift( hes a cop) so I use this time to play poker what so bad about thaT?

There is nothing like the excitement of a big comback. If I feel like playing some serious poker I usually get all jacked up on some strong coffee and that gets my adrenaline flowing even more. I get in a big hand and ill be sweating. I love it.
