There are 2 ways to play a rebuy MTT imo:
1) In the early rebuy period try to double/triple/quatro as fast as possible. How? Take many 50/50 shots, even 40/60 shots arent bad, so risk stack with any pair suited connectors above 78s ect, hands like KTs are perfect too. If u loose, np just rebuy, if u win put pressure on ur table. Try to havbe a very healthy stack during the rebuy period. After the rebuy allways! do the addon then play like a normal MTT. If u did rebuy for 6/7/8 times it doesnt matter, ur playin to win, if u get final table ur winnings are far more then these couple off rebuys.
2) In the early rebuy period: Allways do first rebuy first hand! Play tight, only risk ur stack with monsters. If u double or more ur lucky, if u dont there is no problem. After the rebuy period allways! do the addon. I u didnt get a hand during the rebuy np, with help of the addon u have a average stack, 40% off the field is allready eliminated so from now u play to reach the final table and make some serious money.
Note: I allways play like 2) but 1) isnt that bad, u need a healthy roll and dont care bout the rebuy money, many pros play like 1) remember that

I like rebuys for the simple fact I never rebuy, Once in a blue moon I may do a add on, I like that you get like 6 to 1 if you make the money

Agree, the less you invest the less often you need to be in the money to still make a buck. This is the way I play live-rebuy tourneys, at the end of the year I win ten times my total buy-ins. So I vote blue

Usually in rebuy and addon tournaments i try to make as much chips as possible in the start with all in raises, if not lucky rebuy 1 or 2 times, and make an addon for a bigger chip stake, and only then the poker game begins

I like insta-rebuyers too. They could elevate tournament prizes to incredible levels why I stick with at most 1-2 rebuys and addon (I make almost always addon - its not the same that allin every hand and need tons of rebuys) And I sometimes win a lot of money with low cost.
Some pokerrooms have 2hours rebuy period in turbo tournaments. I admire people that are so stubborn that they WANT TO WIN, that they are rebuing for ... one small blind. Its really sick but profitable for smart players.
There is nothing to discuss more, option 2) is the only EV+. Rebuys are there to help good players to recover after bad beat with AA, not to push all-in with KT and 22 in early stage.

I know the theory, and I use no 1, but it doesn't seem to work too well for me, up against the big stacks. I'm going to try the other one but depends on my bankroll and rebuy cost. I will try it though, we'll see...

What do you mean with rebuy first hand? You mean getting the addon right? Or just go crazy all-in and rebuy with ATC??
First hand standard rebuy, u start with lets say 2,000 chips, u can rebuy with 2,000 chips or less so rebuy! So 2nd hand u have 4,000 chips to play with.

Iv never liked the super loose approch, you need a big bankroll to pull it off effectifly. But as its a re-buy I think to start you should play loose, big pots can be mad in early stages. Personaly I like to play them as a normall game and take my odds, hopefuly cathing some super loose players. OPtion 2 is better IMO.

the first is just like i play all my freerols )) it's the best way...but only if you got an account balance pretty big...so, don;t rebuy if the fee is more than 1-5% if your total cash...so there
