As for the rest who are being "themselves' sorry but I didnt plan on being sick.

dozn01 I mean really, all of a sudden because you post every minute you are gonna tell me I sound fishy?? I have been at this site a little while now and if you had any clue as to why I posted this,( that might mean reading some past posts of memebers who have been here for longer than a minute), you would understand that before I accepted this sponsorship I asked memebers of this site what they thought. So get a grip on yourself and dont try being "cute" with me cause I am feeling like crap and in no mood for your nonsense.

I said in my original post that I would be typing quite a bit so yes I am working on it. If that is not good enough then.....

this might help you old timer im only a newbie here, so why dont you read some past post ,
preach what you teach ok Big Smile

. You've got history
Boasting about how long you've been subscribed to a forum or newsgroup is not advised. Far better to make obscure references to the forum/newsgroup when only thirteen people knew it existed. Fondly recall a similar flame-war which took place in 1989 between "Big Al" and "Phyllis from Kent". If a newly arrived opponent produces a particularly strong argument, tell them that you've already discussed (and won) this debate last year and that you've no intention of repeating your crushing arguments all over again for their benefit.

in a recent post you said dozn01 .... " mostly my comments will be usefull and some will be trying to be funny" ..... I think now you can also add irritating and annoying .... I think you have too much time for posting and should go play more poker (but not at my table ... your ramblings would wreck my head)

I started playing poker in 2005 and joined a few different sites. There was one that I liked playing at more than others, so I did dedicate more time to it. This site offered me not only NLHE but also plenty of other games as well which I would start off in play money to get use to then challenge myself with real. I found that I was doing pretty good with H.O.R.S.E. After about 4 years of playing ,( I had stopped playing at the others at this point, but tried a few more), I received a e mail from the site asking me if I would like to talk to them in regards to being sponsored. At first I thought it was a joke, but I contacted them and said I would like to hear more. What it came down to was that I would be required to play xxxxxxx amount of hours on site,( with xxxxxxx amount of dollars from site weekly, if I used that up wait till next week but if I won all winnings where mine), for ring games, and they would cover any MTT buy ins I had, all winnings where mine, and that they would send me to 3 live games, representing their site. This was a "trial sponsorship" over a 6 month period. Just so you know, I was not the only one who was offered this. There where a few more on the site who I did play against on a few occasions. If at the end of 6 months we mutually decided to continue, then we would but each side had to fulfill their end and and agree to staying with each other. I received in a contract by mail,( this is after having many phone conversations as well), and lucky for me one of my neighbors is a "attorney" who represents many sports figures here in Canada. I had spoken to him previously and he said he would read through this contract with me. He did and all was good with the contract. I was then assigned a "handler",( had no idea what that was and had to ask), who was to guide me through any issues, questions etc. This being all new to me I had many of both.

I then started playing, on site with "someone" elses money. Believe me it feels odd. At first I was playing to tight, afraid of losing their $$$$$, knowing that your being watched and judged. Through constant e mails and phone calls, I found myself getting angry and starting to question my own play. Funny thing was it was my own play that got me recognised. So as a little time and play progressed I started to settle down and enjoy it. I started winning some real nice cash. I think that I must also say that I never went out of money in the week periods, always came over. The MTT's that I was required to play in where all large buy ins. I played all styles of game and played against the other "sponsored players' as well. The site was not unreasonable about required time of play nor did they argue if there was a tourney that they wanted me to play in and i wanted to play in another. As for the ring games well I will say that really there are "donkeys" at every level. lol its not just the lower limits. Some of the calls that where made IMO where really quite bad. Calling with 4 7 off hoping to catch a st8, seeing 3 spades on the flop and thinking "ya my pair of 5's should stand up to that" ........ Anyway, as a little more time goes by I had some 'personal issues " to deal with and had to call it quits. I never was able to fulfill the live play.

To answer some of the questions that where asked in this thread.

Davoodoo- The best part of being involved in a sponsorship was knowing that I was good enough to be asked. The worst was having someone constantly watching your play. If I could go back in time and do it again would I?? I really don't know.

MarouH- As stated above I played many from NLHE to H.O.R.S.E. As for feeling a radical improvement in my play , the only thing I really needed to do was settle down and just play as opposed to thinking to much about all. Can I make a living with a sponsorship? Well that is a good question, one to which if I maybe would have followed through all I would know the answer too but do i really think I was /am good enough? I think that is up to the card god's Smile The last question you asked about advantages to be sponsored as opposed to liberal is IMO all about what you can afford to loose. Playing with someone elses money as i said above is not that easy,( for me anyway).

Many have asked "how can I get a sponsorship" and to that all I can really say is keep playing well, use good BRM,( very important as site said to me that they noticed that about me), try to maintain at one site,( do as I did and pick your favorite), and don't talk like a dip s**t in chat. I mean really do you think that coming off sounding like a big mouth "punk" is going to appeal to a site? Just my opinion.

I was going to try to post allot more detail, but due to some on here having no patience ,( even though I did apologise as I have the flu, and still do) I have tried to write what i thought some would want to know. If there are more questions that I can answer, and will when I feel better, post them.
Smile

Nice story ...... Pity you had to stop .... Can imagine how difficult having someone checking youre results and play is .... as for playing with other peoples money and trying not to blow it. But sure dose sound interesting especially like the part of being sent to play live tourneys.

on a side note regarding playing with other peoples money ... i joined a poker staking site recently and found playing with staked money tricky ... wanted to make a impression and not squander it ... even though it was very small money it still took a little while to be comfortable .... But im glad i started small as now its not a issue as i made a profit the few times i got staked .... so now i have more confidence and look forward to getting more stakes ....... plus i have also found i getting better results in sng due to the slight changes i made in playing with other peoples money ....

Hope to hear more details of youre sponsorship when youre feeling better

Smile I have seen some of the staking sites and I know of 2 people who stake fairly high. They started off a few years ago soing this and have not only made plently of money but have played alot of them being both live and online themselves.

At that site i was playing about 4-6 hours a day and my stakes varied as to what type of game I was playing and how comfortable i felt in my skill. NLHE in ring games i played at the 1-5 Dollar Dollar tables and in any of the others Razz. stud etc I just watched a table for a bit and then decided if i wanted to play. MTT's in any game I never did more than a few hundred Dollar Dollar buy in. Smile

Wow! This post has turned into some kind of forum of it's own... Smile
Thanks for the story dlkiv! Very interesting, didn't know they did it that way.

I just don't get why people get so pissed off at each other sometimes....relax...
Only idiots like that guy a week (or two?) back are worth dissing.
And it was funny to read it all!

That's why I posted

This is the way it happened for me, I am not sure if this is common practice or is i was a guinia pig
Tongue

As for people getting pissed off, for me it takes quite a bit,( unless I am sick or have not had enough coffe in the am then watch out Big Smile ), but sometimes i see on here people who just be annoying or moronic,( lol for lack of a better term Blink see i am still feeling the flu), and sometimes they cross a line and others pick up on it. lol and you think that guy a few weeks back was bad, you should have seen the biggest idiot,( funny enough he tried to be everyones "friend" but in the end he was just a scammer), and ended up on the big walk of shame.

and BTW your welcome for the story. Smile
