Not sure how to play this tournament  0
Afternoon

I've got a big tournament coming and I'm not entirely sure how to play it.
Its the 3piggs million a month tourny with a 1k buyin and the winner gets 250k.
Thing is, cause it only happens once a month and is such a big tourny, its a bit different to other tournaments:

Starting stack is 10 000
Blinds start at 10 / 20 and go up every 25min
Rebuy period is 3 hours

So now the question is:
Do i only play premium premium hands and play super tight?
or cause im so deep and blinds take so long, do i play low suited connectors in position hoping to crack a monster?
or do I call raises with rubbish in position cause im so deep?

any opinions?

500BB deep position is even more important, so one can play more hands in late positions. But don't overdo it.

Maybe it is best to react to the table. If play is very tight, loosen up your game. If play is loose, tighten up.

Wau.
You play MTT-s with buyin 1K and ask question like that. Im not going to say anything, because 1000 $ buyin is way over my league. GL

hello!
i think that with a DS you can permit yourself playing some potential hands as 78s+ and 66+ even lower in good position. and as the blinds are still low, play small ball, you don't want to be the one being cracked by little hands :o)
and defend your blinds ! also, as shokaku said, react to the table, be innovative, change gears, melt your game! Spade

This

Also, learn to steal/re-steal effectively if you want to take it down because, at this level you're likely to be priced out of a lot of pots by decent players.

yep you in way over your head i think.every tourney is different,i find when the blinds are small at the start, play all and every hand unless someone raises then fold 25 is nothing.you tend to win alot of hands with soso cards.otherwisejust play your normal game and see what happens, good luck you gunna need it esspecially with the rebuys.did you buyin for this or win a ticket somehow....

Surely this isn't a $1k rebuy? lol You'd need a $250,000 bankroll to support such tourneys Shock Which I seriously doubt any current BRM member has.

Satalite win or gtfo

you can afford to be a little loose with your stack at the start........
but as the blinds go up play tight...........
just play your normal game i wish you good luck,

did you win this throu a sat or did you buyin??

oh by the way this is gonna be a very long tourney make sure you fresh and ready Big Smile

lol
yeah sorry, its R1000 (South African Rands) not $1000
Exchange rate is bout 7.5 - 1 so its about a $130 buyin
and yes I won a R50 satellite to get my seat.
yeah adapting to the table is probably the way to go about it (as it is in most tournaments) but was just worried that cause everyone is so deep and the blind levels are so long PLUS the rebuy period is 3hrs, that I need to change something in my game.
Should be interesting tho

or cause im so deep and blinds take so long, do i play low suited connectors in position hoping to crack a monster?

in my eyes thats the worst thing to do. The "i have so much of a stack" opinion is what may destroy your game. After loosing 3-4 suited connectors you wanna get it back all and even play cons... after that any crap. And when this works for the first time even more crap.

The is nothing wrong with opening up the pot from position with suited connectors in any part of a tournament infact, there's everything right with it as long as you can put your opponent on a hand range. Turning these hands into a believable bluff is part of the game. Obviously you can wait for monsters but, we all know where that gets you in the long run.

Play Poker.

well said m8, plus if u only play the monster hands they are the people i look for to bust with my suited connectors. its to easy to put u on a hand. if i play 45 suited i play it the same as As Big Smile just dont risk all ur stack on nothing, but when u raise with that and someone just calls with Qs say and u hit the 2 pair or str8 or something they think they are good then bang u got ur self a double up Big Smile

Well im not the best tourney player in the world (but i did just win a $15 90 man tourney for $500 this morning Big Smile) What i can advice is that since youre starting very deep stacked at 500bbs, so suited connectors and small PP go up greatly in value, as do other marginals holdings. Play small ball until the blinds increase and then use selective aggression to amass a big stack by stealing pots in late position. Good luck Thumbs Up

Lol ... good joke!
How many players? Over 1000? How many percent is on prize? A 10% more or less? Imho this tournament is the typical to play tight at first and getting loose while blinds are growing up. But it's a question of feelings. Taste the tournament and observe the table and what do you feel? Table is agressive? Who is the bug in the table? Who the fish?
