HELL, THIS IS NOT POKER!!!!!!!!  0
Hiya all mobsters.. Many hours have passed since I played that FTP $1 Main Event Seat Qualifier... about 25,000 players for 5 places of $12k each... I played maybe my best game ever... tried so skillfully and avoided all donkeys that kept shoving and shoving with rags in the first hour... set some really good traps and a couple of small bluffs and doubled up again and again... swallowed my pride and folded AQ to an all-in of a tight one even when I had bigger stack while doing a PERFECT read (he had KK, and I avoided facing his 70% percent)... made some more good reads about flushes and straights and kept folding even on the river with good hands... kept moving and moving and after 1 and 1/2 hour we were less than 3,000 left.

By that time I had a very decent stack, more than average, without having been favorited with many premium hands so far, only an AK offsuit... I was so eager to go further and felt that I have potential to go very far in this tourney...

Then for many hands I got very shitty cards... 7-3 and 9-2 offsuit and crap like this about fifteen times in a row... I said it's ok, I'll be patient and the good cards will come.. Right after that, and while I still had a decent stack, the game suddenly moved me to a table where there were lots of big stackers playing A-A and K-K one after the other... Don't know why I was supposed to go to this table but anyway, what the heck... the problem was not the big stacks but the unbelievably shitty hands that kept coming...
The only decent hand I got there, was K-T offsuit in the third hand after moving to the table, but since two bigstackers had re-raised matching my stack before me I folded... To sum it up, I got 20 more crappy hands and finally I got outblinded... Man, I counted 36 SHITTY HANDS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!... Is this a Guinness record or what?... THIRTY-SIX F**KIN' HANDS WITHOUT A SINGLE ACE!.... that K-T was the only playable thing in these 36 hands... Is this poker??? We keep saying it's a game of skill etc. etc. but I'm telling you, there's nothing more disgusting than playing so well for an hour and then been spit by crappy hands without being able to do anything... I said I'll shove with anything that can be played, but this was nowhere to be found... hell, I'm sure even Ivey would have called it a joke and quit... Shock

Don't know what to say.. I'm still shocked that this thing actually happened to me... Pity, pity, pity... I know I may sound like bragging but it sucks so unbelievably much to be thrown away from a big tourney in such a way... even bad beats feel a lot better!!.. I really hope nobody will face this ever... If anybody else has something like this to share, please be my guest!! Not that it'll make me feel less unlucky but it'd be interesting to hear...

G'night ya all!

+++++ I just read that post by IslandJack called "Final Table....finally!..."
Congrats mate, this must feel so good! I truly hope someday in the near future I'll match what you did and win a final table in a big prize tourney with so many players like you did... And yes, Sunday Million is my dream too!! Smile Smile Good luck in your game! Thumbs Up

I feel like i've been dead carded for days lol. I know the feeling. I went on a roll the other day though and got dealt Pocket pair after pocket pair. Kind of makes me suspicious though as all the cash turnys i was playing i was dead carded. as soon as i enter a worthless freeroll my hands start improving like you wouldn't beleive.... Why couldn't i get the monster hands when i'm playin $33 buys Sad

if you ever want to make it in a big tournament you have to get real, i have won loads of tournament on k6 q7 ..... you have to read your apponents and in the final stages of a tournament its always coinflips

IMO shove a marginal hand before you get outblinded, least you still retain some fold equity, might get the blinds.. you can't play so tight if you're card dead

I never got outblinded so far. Most usual is, taht after lots of s..tty hands i get AQs in late pos and push allinn(because of stack size) and then get called by AA and KK and 1010 and 1010 hits and takes all.

ILI - who sais you cant bluf with the 73 or 92 Blink

I usually play tight agressive in deeper tourneys, but you know when you sometimes fold tens of hands in a row, then one moment the click goes in your head, telling you now its time to go with 56 suited unless I want to blind out Blink.

I would have attacked the blinds with those cards at least, like a desperated move..
And if the raise before the KTo wasn't too high I would have played it
S**t happens mate

If you are card dead, you are card dead. Had to play Texas fold'em for hours in some normal tourneys, but in turbos one is doomed with such a bad run of cards.

I got the same badluck at a live poker game (and it happens often) still you gotta get loose in these situation. Playing with 10-8 suited with a raise before me, and bluffing hard on the flop (and i.m consider by my friends as a really tight player). But when you don't get any cards....take one and pretend you have the aces and try to bet as likely as possible.....make it as obvious as you can!! Works for me!!

well, I've read everything you wrote here guys.. thanx for the support and I must say that the majority of what u write are correct... I've been dead carded before and I've always tried to do bluffs and such and survive until some playable hands come... the thing is that statistically it's so unprobable to be dealt 36 ridiculous hands in a row while the others on the table get very decent ones, that makes you go nuts... IMO I really couldn't make a bluff when 1-2 people in every hand had very good hands like AQ, JJ etc and were willing to shove (what's the point of bluffing someone when you know he'll call u??) Also I never got some decent suited connectors like 8-9 for example... I've seen the hand history afterwards and it was all 8-5 offsuit and such... Incredible bad luck... of course at situations like these u always say that I'll wait for the next hand cause you know that there's a good probability to get something decent at least once... in this case, it never showed up...
@SeanzBeanz: u are right pal, just before this, I played a 9-handed SnG with a very small fee and got A-A TWICE in a single game!!!!!!!... how about that! Shock

You should never blind out in a tourney, ofc we all probably have at some stage but, the key is to learn ICM (independant chip model) infact, theres a few ICM trainers knocking about which are excellent.

You have to find ways of playing the occasional weak starting hand if for no other reason than to keep your oppponents guessing. If you only play premium cards, than better players will pick up on it and will avoid paying out when you catch good cards
