i assume we have alot football fans among us since we have so many football threads (except larrylaffer who hates football but posts in every single footy thread ), and even Admin sponsored a couple points on certain football events, i wonder if BRM is up to make a lil worldcup contest on all 64 games ?
something like...1 point for the right result and 3 points for the exact score ( and extra 10points for the world champion prediction )
lil buyin for everyone - winner gets it all (maybe a small donate from BRM or a free bet on one of the sportsbetting offers?)

I'll do a little bit of thinking and see if I can come up with something simple that's not going to cost us a million dollars Maybe it'll be a simple betting system so you'll have to invest Mob Points in order to win, just like with real sportsbetting. Not sure if we should do it so that users can "sell bets", like on betfair, as the system would then depend on users selling bets, before people can buy.
On the other hand, it would also be too complicated for us to put odds on all 64 games.

Maybe we could also do it like this: Charge a specific fee, say 100 Mob Points, in order to make a guess for a match, either 1X2 or the correct score. And if you win, all the users with the right guess will share the pot. Of course the prizes will be bigger if we use "correct score" but more people might play if they can bet on 1X2.

actually thats what i was thinking about (without complicated odd things etc - too much work)
100 mobpoints to participate for example. if you guess the right result you get 1 point, if you guess result + the exact score then u get 3 points. 64 games - the one who has most points gets the prize... i thought this would be funny. but of course we can do that from game to game - its all in your hands

you could do it like a sort of league, where it is 100 mobpoints to participate, you get 1 point for guessing the amount of goals each team scores from game to game, for example: england 2 u.s.a 1 & I guess england 2 u.s.a 0 then I get 1 point because I guessed england will score 2 Then the people who finish say 1st 2nd 3rd in this league split the points in the prize pool 50% 30% 20%

I think it's a very good idea! I've promised myself to watch ALL the matches so ... they will be more interesting if there are mobpoints playing to
I like the sound of being able to bet mob points on sports. The system might be difficult to implement but once it was in place i don't see why it couldn't be used for other major sporting events also.
I am fond of football and this sounds a nice idea to me! lol the world cup in south africa this summer is a big big event and I hope it will also be one for bankrollmobb

We have more or less decided on a concept, where everybody will be able to login and submit a guess on each game (maybe both the result and the correct score). The odds will then be converted into points for a leaderboard score. There will (might) be a weekly leaderboard (4 weeks) and an Total leaderboard. The weekly leaderboard will have smaller prizes and the total leaderboard over the whole competition will have bigger prizes.
We decided to keep Mob Points out of it because we don't want to give an advantage to those with more Mob Points than others and we also didn't want to act as we're bookmakers since we'll never be able to compete with real bookmakers on that account anyway Besides, if you really want to spend your Mob Points on betting, you would be better of spending real money on sportsbetting.
No promises yet, but that's what we've come up with so far - we'll see if we can turn it into something useful and have it ready in time.

That'll be cool and will have everyone visit the site more often for betting, see what the others predicted and overall it will be a good buzz! Yeah, Admin, I'm with you in that it's better not to involve Mob Points, but "one man-one bet" for each match...

i dont watch much football but worldcup is a special event in my opinion so i also try to watch ALL games - got vacation anyways at this time.

yep, gonna be interessting. we also could exchange experience on our teams...like if you know Team A is actually favorit but always has difficults playing TEAM B, injuries etc.
