Harrington on Holdem is the bible of tourney play. But this is the weakness of the book too. Everyone knows what you are doing, if you play like Harrington.

Yes, but these two are the only ones available (there where other but in french or german languages) to me in the loyalty shop of a pokerroom where I earned a lot of fidelity points to spend.

Snyder has another approach. More aggression.
you say it is the bible other say it are the basics only. But never the less it seems to be helpful

I would have to say there are many, many good hold'em books. I recently read Gus Hansen's book on every hand revealed. It opened my eyes to a few new ideas. Already read through everything our little library has. I would encourage you to look at books that explore poker outside of NL Hold'em. There are some good reads on limit hold'em and a few books that can help with omaha as well. Those games are fun to mix it up with and help you build a more flexible game. Of course you can start with hold'em books. Good luck.

Harrington is just a really really good base to play poker ! why? Because what you advice to a beginner is to play TAG and that's exactly what Harrington learns to you : ABC of the TAG player And its great because there is exercices !
