New law in France (only for french player)  0
SITTING OUT ON THE PokerStars.FR Sunday, July 4
18h -> 21h

Following SCANDAL suffered by the French online poker these days,

WE organize a DIGITAL EVENT from the worldwide leader, PokerStars.

Indeed, the fees charged, and changes to the structure of tournaments are SCANDALOUS, everything is the responsibility of the players, worse,

PokerStars has even taken an extra margin in the process!

We are asking YOU, to join our event, while sitting at table, and REFUSING the blinds, Sunday, July 4 from 18h to 21h (It is explained below how to proceed). Evil

------------
That I was sent this excerpt is a good example of the challenge that goes against the new law on online poker French. Because it really seems impossible at present played poker profitable. The fee of 2% + higher raked by room and even the application of the tax pre-flop even if everyone folds! and many other things! Evil

Good on you, stand up to them, its a stupid law.
How are you finding it (except for the fees), is it true they have also set limits on tourn entrys and limits you can play?

These new laws really suck for all you French players, but it's going to get worse. Far, far worse.

Having installed himself as the new manager of the France football team, Monsieur Sarkozy - or as we call him here "The Hungarian Midget" - will now summon any French poker player, who fails to quailfy for a final table, to his office for a "debriefing".

In addition any poker player going on strike (i.e. refusing to pay the blinds) or telling the dealer to "Go f**k yourself, you son of a whore" will be ejected immediately and never be allowed to play again.

However, in support of your "cause" I now wont be opening a Pokerstars account until July 5th so that I will also be able to "refuse" the blinds on the 4th - in pointlessly symbolic yet virtual fashion.

p.s. This is what happens when you refuse to eat British beef.

I still don't understand what this change to the french law means, how it's enforced. But seen as I just moved back to the UK from france sounds like I made a lucky escape.

Good to hear that you're making a stand though. At least that's what I think you're doing. Good luck with it.

Get serious.

You should be grateful they've created a room just for French players. It's cost them money to do this and they also have to pay a percentage of the profits to the French Government so a 2% increase in rake is hardly surprising. The simplest option for Pokerstars would be to ban French players completely - which is what many sites will probably do.

It's your government you need to protest at. They created the laws. Pokerstars obviously don't want to lose customers as this hits their profits but they are just doing what they can to accomodate you and keep their customers. You can't expect them to keep the rake the same and pay a large amount ot their profits from Pokerstars.fr to the French government.

Stupid French government.
After Hadopi who was voted by ministers who don't know what the law is, we have this law.
The guys who have voted this don't know what poker is. They voted to protect the French players against addiction. And for fighting against this addiction, they make ads on TV ...
There's a problem , no ?
This government sucks

I don't get it why are you taking actions against pokerstars.fr??? they can't change anything and if they change their structure or whatever I'm really sure that they will lose their french license.

Huh imo they can change something, look at bwin.fr, the rake is not like ps.fr.
So they can do sth. And if ps.fr change something, the others sites will change ...

Hello everybody!
The reason why Pokerstars is targeted is threefold.
1) The other rooms will tend to align with the leader!
2) For the moment it's the room that took most rake, especially on some sng rake. Much more than the internationale site.
3) One of the President of the French section of pokerstar is a Balkani. This is the son of a political allies of Mr Sarkozy.
See you soon for new posts lol! Cool

Good Luck
I personally think that the only good thing is that online poker is now legalized in france...hope that was one of the first steps to legalize online poker within the EU and in a few years everybody can play against each other at an Poker-Room with an EU-License
