Rudeness a weapon?  0
Is rudeness (ranging from calling someone a fish upto stating that you have conjugated with his mother) a legitimate weapon of poker strategy in order to drive a better player away from the table?

LOL. Im not sure whether its a weapon as to more of a distraction. If im ata atable and 2 people start arguing i cant help but read what they are saying as most of the time as you say peoples mothers and stuff get brought into it lol . I Big Smile

LOL, just try to watch Tony G play poker, the guy just wants to make you lose concentration and get upset, however, i think involving someones mother is "beyond the line" I'll shoot anyone in the head involving my mom into something that is just not right. Mobster

I believe that it is a weapon if the opponent is affected by it. Of course it is not a weapon that is "politically correct" but in the end, is your objective to win money or make friends?

It's not a weapon I use but on some players I guess it work's if anybody try to use it on me I'll ignore it for 10 min and then just block him from my chat and make a note Cool

EDIT: I sometimes reverse use it....if I sit at a table where a guy I have noted as a mouth is sitting I'll drop a word to him just to get him started and then block chat I think sometimes "the mouths" use more focus on their bad language than the game Smile

Hey golden

Most poker sides have a option too close playerchat that helps if your feeling yelled ad. They usually come down again if you don't answer. I feel that the best revenge is to beat the player that does the yelling Big Smile

Yeah I know just it can really offend me when it happens.
So it usually always gets me off my game.
But i have all chat disabled now while I play so I dont even need that to happen to me.

Sure it is a weapon. Look at how it helps Mike The Mouth Matusow, and Phil Hellmuth. I personally could put up with Mike, but when it comes to Phils whining im afraid I might get arrested.

LOL that's a good one, does Phil whine so much? I thought he's a quiet player and doesn't want to get disturbed when making a decision.

I very seldom have the chat on. Chat can definately affect my game unfortunately. Because when someone gets me mad Ill end up trying to take him out on a mediocre hand.

rudness may not be the most sporting of things at a poker table yet it does have its advantages if you wind a player up enough he will get annoyed then start to make disissions he wouldnt normally but if the player is as good as he or she thinks or wants to be they should stay calm or sit out a few hands till clam again this way you've got the advantage over the player whos trying to do this as his attempt to mock you has failed and left him with his gaurd down . people do sometimes say "the best action for defeence is attack " and visa versa so be aware and keep it calm you'll be the victor in the end if you hold your nerve , tongue and temper

One downside of this type of play is when a player is normally tight, then you try to do this kind tactics on him and he becomes more of an aggressive player then you might have trouble reading his pattern.

i have posted here before but to add to what i said rudness is it a weapon yes but like any weapon it can backfire anytime so be careful because all it takes is a complaint to the poker room staff and they may have you removed from the game or even the site so be aware and keep it cool
