Hi
Realdealpoker has their new cardhsuffle system,,so what do you players think? Gimmick or Real deal?
I was wondering,IF they get lots of traffic, like thousands of players are they going to have thousands of those machines in a big room? What if the power goes out in the room? What if they break down?
What do you people think? I personally think its neat, but just a gimmick...

I think it's real. It isn't that difficult, you have a few intensive machines always shuffling. Store the results in a DB.
edit: re: Power. Hate to break it to you, real servers that normal online rooms run from require power also, as do the lights in actual casinos. It's called a generator.

Heres how it works, they have 2 machines(may have more now) they shuffle up hands, the hands are then stored in a DB for future games. I think its as random as random gets, same as a RNG in a way, its the read deal.

That´s about the only way they could get it done IMO.
As to the power, like jess says, all server rooms have backup power generators. ALL of them. Otherwise you would have sites going down all the time.
Especially when the cleaning lady comes in to clean the server room and pulls the plug to hook up her vacuum cleaner! This really used to happen sometimes, no joke... And all the IT people trying to figure out why their servers went down about the same time every day..lol

If that is true, then the really big question is do those saved hands get played out in order? The risk with pre-determined outcomes is that randomness is actually non-existent.

that sentence doesnt entirely make sense.. I dont see how the shuffles are less random if played in order..
But my guess is they're randomly picked from DB, simply as an added security measure. Which is kinda ironic, since they still be picking the random shuffles then from an RNG.
