Well its looking like the Dutch government is planning to license and regulate all forms of egaming, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, they want to regulate and tax all forms of egaming based on the Italian and French licensing model, excluding sports betting offered by state lottery and betting monopoly De Lotto. Seams to me governments are starting to see the $ in online gaming and want a slice of pie, way to mess up a great game pig whores.

yeah, italian sons of bitches governors are years behind every other EU countries ( and also many extra EU ones) in development laws and so on
but when it's time to keep out mopney from our pockets they are always in pole position
Here I am to support Magatt statements Maybe next year it will be legal in Italy too to play cash games ( and I'm sure Full Tilt will ask immediately for a licence ) and maybe tournaments buy in cap will be 500 instead of 100 .......

Yeah - looks like all across the EU things are going pear-shape. I know on PKR Scandinavian countries as a whole make up the second largest portion of their player base.. And french previously held that position.
Argg.. Not looking like a bright future for online gaming at all The UK looks to hold strong for a while - personally I think about the only thing to save it in the long term though will be the likes of either Stars/FTP to continue to defy US law. Or if the US changes and opens up to the world again and lets US players flood the rooms that are losing euro players.

they are smart, they know its money in this buisness and of course they want a little bit of the pie. it seems the taxes we pay is not enough, the goverment will always tax what ever it is, nothing for free.

I guess it is OK for gaming companies like Stars, Party etc. since they can market their services legally in many countries where the legal situation used to be somewhat undefined. We players pay the increased tax burden in one way or other. Splitting the player pools is a stupid thing to do, especially in EU. At least some smaller countries let their players play at .com sites.
Goverments around the world have had centuries to develop ways to keep the populace under control to their liking. Regulating and taxing online gambling/poker sites are just another example of how they do it. I predict that in the next 20 years or so most countries will have gradully moved away from democracy and have become tightly controlled police states. U won't be able to so much as fart without being in violation of something.

I agree with you on the tax principle I'm all for big government + big taxes and good social welfare/education/health etc
However - this PARTICULAR model of taxing internet poker is crap - because it compltely destroys it as other than the USA, no country has enough people playing at a single site to generate the type of traffic needed to run good MTTs and regular cash games etc without sharing player base with other countries.
I'm seriously all for tax and a healthy society.. but this isn't the way. They need to develop models that support a larger player base.. Possibly the entire EU needs to get in on it together, rather then all these independent taxing models.

yes in our country the same problem will be soon i think becouse all want a piece off pie and all want free money from us players and internet poker site owners it will be in future no poker on the internet it will be only live ..... but i didnt want it and hope never will happens that shi......... t

I am Dutch too, but I am partially happy, I can play legal, but if i win 1000 € i have to pay taxes. I won 1000 € twice and managed to stay away from the tax-slurper..... Edit: up untill the new governement....
