Y can't I re-raise?  0
I've wondered about this 4 years but never asked about it. lets say 4 example that there are 3 ppl in the hand. lets say i raise 1000 chips, the 2nd guy calls, & the 3rd person goes all in w/ his last 1200 chips, basically re-raising me 200 more chips. but then i'm only given the option 2 call, not raise. if he raised, y can't i re-raise? is it cuz his raise wasn't at least the size of my raise? or not at least the size of the bb?

There's a minimum amount you can raise. If the increase in bet from the allin does NOT exceed/meet the minimum raise - that it's essentially treated as a call and you cannot raise again. If the allin exceeded the minimum amount you're allowed to raise - then you could re-raise.

The rule is simple: you cannot raise less than the difference between the two last bets. For example:
Blinds 10/20
1. Player A bets 100
2. If Player B wants to raise, minimum to 180 (or +80) [ = 100+ (100-20) ]. Let's suppose that Player B raises to 400.
3. If Player C wants tot raise, minimum to 700 (or +300) [ = 400 + (400-100) ]
4. etc ...

Thanks for the explanations guys, I have come over this situation a couple of times and wondered WTF was going on.

Learn something new every day. Smile "Takes a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master..." Yeah, right. I still, after four years obviously do not know the rules... Sad

the re raise must be at least double the inital raise for you to be allowed come over the top,
since it is not[ in example] and another player called, both players can only make up the re raised bet as it would not be fair to other players to allow a shove.

Seen a fight over this in a hand i was in at the local pub,2 brothers lol Big Smile

------------
question for you, why cant you just spell why?

yeah, it really sux if u r on a drawing hand & call a raise, then sumbody goes all in w/ a few extra chips, & gives the 1st raiser another chance 2 raise. that's how we play a lot of home games, & everybody hates it but, 4 sum reason, we still play that way. i guess cuz we think it's the way we're supposed 2 play. good 2 have sum info so i can try 2 put an end 2 that.
@almonds: i use the letter instead of the word cuz i'm used 2 texting where u have 2 save space & speed is more important than spelling. does it really bother u that bad? r u a grammar nazi? lol!

You must raise in a way that this can't happen. So either raise so big, that the small stack is all in anyway, or so low that you can come over the top, should he go all-in.

It's not smart to change sizing because of things like that. And if u are to scared of to much people calling u should push which ofc is not an option.
About "costing you entire stack". You can't treat it like raise... it's just call. The other people would call you anyway and you would loose your stack with that raise or without. (ofc not 100$ sure < Blink

ty for this the same i also using then play poker but now we must play against fishes and donks who try to knok out from the pot with dumb all in pushing or rerising u now to many unbrained players was who want to get more chips and donks and at the end they just have huge zero on the account and u if play clever and good poker allways was on + with your money
good luck all and be happy Tongue
