Native Women Riddle  0
In a meeting of all the native wives, a (male) missionary announces that at least one husband has been unfaithful. It is the tradition on that island that if a native wife discovers her husband has not been faithful, she would shoot him that midnight. Every native wife knew about the fidelity of every husband except her own, and never discussed her husband's fidelity with anyone else. After seven peaceful nights, shots were fired at midnight on the eight night. How many husbands were unfaithful?

I think its just 1 male. that all the women are married to the same male missionarry Im most likely wrong. I would like to learn the answer to this riddle to this

do all the husbands happen to be unfaithful. if the woman dont talk to each other the only way that should be able to tell the fidelity of the other men is if they are sleeping with them themselves. and if they all know the fidelity of all the other men does that mean that all the women were sleeping with all the other men. thus all the men were being unfaithful.

The only thing I can prove is that its more than one husband that were unfaithful. Because if a woman knew the fidelity of every husband except her own and she knew every other husband was faithful than her own husband must be unfaithful because the missionary said at least one was unfaithful.

And dannyjon noticed shots were fired so has to be more than one.

Anway, Marilyn vos Savant is supposely the person with the higest IQ and ansered this question

Answer:

If only one husband had been unfaithful, his wife would have immediately realized that, since no other husbands had been unfaithful, her husband must be guilty, and she would have shot him that first night at midnight. Therefore, any other wife, who knew of only one unfaithful husband, would immediately realize if he was not shot the first night at midnight, that her own husband must also be unfaithful, and both unfaithful husbands would be shot the second night at midnight. Similary, if a wife knew of any number n of unfaithful husbands, she would realize that if they were not shot on the nth night at midnight, that her own husband had been unfaithful, and the n+1 husbands would be shot on the n+1st night at midnight.

Therefore, there were eight unfaithful husbands.

After correctly solving the riddle, Marilyn then suggests that the unfaithful husbands could have postponed their day of reckoning by persuading the faithful husbands to join them, increasing the number of unfaithful husbands.

When I met you 15 seconds ago you told me the words you've just read. I ain't trying to be nosy but now that you've drug me this far, explain your math or quite lyin' and tell me your TRUE financial status!

Goldenstud92, good riddle Smile I couldn't figure it out and browsed down and saw xxxitaliaxxx13's answer.

Heres a riddle or puzzle, whatever you call it.

Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

i would say that it wasnt to your advantage cuz the game show host obviously doesnt want you to win the car so im pretty sure if you had the goat he wouldnt give you the oppertunity to switch it?? however when u pick the door you have a 1/3 chance at the car.. after the 1st door you have a 1/2 chance in picking the car so... switchin if you think of it that way makes sense probability wise

here is another riddle tho.. its a really really old one, one of my favs..

theres a fork in the road, where there are 2 guards guarding it. One guard always lies and the other always tells the truth, unfortunatly there is no way to tell them apart...

on way in the fork in the road leads to paradise, the other way leads to certain death. You may not turn around so you have to choose one of the 2 paths in the fork of the road.

you want to reach paradise and you are allowed to ask 1 guard 1 question... what question do you ask the guard?

(you cant tell what paths leads where by looking at it, and once you start down a path you must continue.)

u ask either guard what would the other guard say if i asked which way is paradise then do the opposite. if you pick the guard that tells the truth he will tell you the wrong way cos he knows the other one will lie and if u pick the lieing guard he will tell you the wrong way cos the other one would tell you the truth.

i was thinkin of one very similar myself before i read urs

heres another classic.

a man who lives on the seventh floor of a block of flats takes the lift to the ground floor every day to go to work. When he returns home he takes the lift to the third floor and walks the remaining four flights of stairs. He does this everyday although he does not stop anywhere else on his way to his flat.
The only time he does anything different is when it has been raining outside. Then he will take the lift straight to the seventh floor to get home.

nice answer awood88 your obviously correct lol but in your class riddle what exactly is the question your tryin to get across lol i uno if i missed it or if you did lol

I like the guard riddle, I couldn't figure out the answer. I had to read awood88's answer a few times to get it lol Smile. And ya, awood88 your missing the question in your riddle.

Anyway, let me rephrase the game show riddle.

You are a contestant on the game show. On stage are three huge doors, the host informs you that hidden behind one of the three doors is a brand new sports car and a donkey behind the others. (This may seem obvious, but your goal is to get the car, not a donkey). He asks you to choose one door, and you will win the prize behind that door. You choose, but before he reveals what you have won, he reveals what's behind one of the doors you did not pick, and it's not the car, it's a donkey. Before revealing what lies behind the remaining two doors, he makes you one final offer: if you wish, you may switch from your choice to the other remaining door. The question is: Should you switch, should you not switch, or does it matter?

BTW xxxitaliaxxx13, the host always gives you the opportunity to switch doors.

then i would say switch cuz of what i said above due to the probabilty because with out 1 door open theres a 2/3 chance of hittin the donkey (1/3 of the prize) so if he opens a donkey door then if you switch you haev a 2/3 chance of gettin the prize... so switch

haha heres another two.... they are tricky lol

A man is trapped in a room. The room has only two possible exits: two doors. Through the first door there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters. Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon. How does the man escape?

and

whats faster.. hot or cold?
