Challenge!!!  0
Hey Mobsters!
I was just wondering have any of you ever tried "The Chris Fergeson Challenge"? For those of you who may not know Chris "Jesus" Fergesun wanted to prove that you could start a bankroll from nothing. Using strict bankroll management, never allowing himself to buy in for more than 5% of his bankroll excluding 1$ s-n-g's in the begining, if he was ever in a cash game and a stack at the table exceeded i believe it was also 5% of his total bankroll he had to cash out. My question to you mobsters is this: Have you ever tried? I decided to try about 6 months ago, and I am here to say, He made it look easier than it is. Chris got his bankroll up to about 30k after about 9months I believe, which ended up going to some charity or another. After about the 30th 2 outer in about 4 weeks, with deep stacks in these various freerolls, I'm here to throw out a challenge to you. Try it. I've played at higher levels and one thing taking this challenge will do is make you appreciate your bankroll, and perhaps view it in a whole other light. I still do play higher levels only live right now because I don't want to deal with the hassel of the inernet gaming laws in my country, and am also currently challenging myself to make this bankroll happen. I currently have .50 cents, so it's freerolls for me until I make at least enough for a dollar s-n-g. I challenge you mobsters, to take the challenge with me, and keep us all posted on your results. What say you? Question

I say to you good luck! Lot of people will tell you that this is impossible but I truly believe it can be done.
Challenges are good thing! I had few myself and still have freeroll challenge going (you can find tread on this forum)
I think you are in better situation then Cris since he had to play only on Full Tilt. You can play on lot of different sites.
I have advice for you: try to make some nice bankroll with freerolls. Dont play with that money until you earn at least 50$ with freerolls. And then start to play with that money. Off course you can continue playing freerolls and boost your bankroll that way.
You can try private freerolls. You can make account on Noble trough Bankrollmob, there are some nice freerolls that you can play using other sites. Try also public freeroll on Intertops poker. I won 220$ using that one.
Good luck and please post here graph and infos so we could follow you...

Oh yeah, and I only play on fulltilt as well. I mean I play on pokerstars, and I am going to start checking out some other sites, I'm contemplating bodog, I gotta check out some of the reviews. For the freeroll challenge, that's what I meant fulltilt only, exactly like Chris. Many may say impossible, I say maybe improbable, but not impossible. I will do it. I'm itching to dump that .50 cents into .01-.02 short stack table and try and double it up, but Im following the rules...Wish me luck Mobster's hope some of you are game to join me in my challenge! How do you know it's impossible unless you have tried, and failed! Sleepy

I still think that there is no reason to make that challenge only on Full tillt. I think FT have really bad freerolls to do that (large fields). I think you should choose some other site or more of them to make success more likely to happened.

You're right about the super stupid large fields(7500) in their daily freerolls and it only pays out 45 places(90 places for the private US freeroll) , it's extremley difficult to cash in. But can be done. If I can do it anyone can. It's alott of time for next to nothing though. The toughest part for me is cashing, and then taking a super tough beat for my dollar after all that hard work... Their are numerous private freerolls that I will play in I'm not only restricting myself to the daily freerolls, not sure if chris did that, that would be a tough one, but again I think it's achievable, an I challenge anyone to try with me. I'll bet I get my Roll started first! Any takers? Agree

There is no point to play freerolls at Fulltiltpoker.. Prizes are so small .. registered people is about 7k .. So if prize is 150$ and there is 7k people then 150$:7500= your buy in Big Smile the buy in is 2ct :}

It's worth it, if you make it worth it. If you are confident enough in your skills to consistently cash, which as Chris showed us is possible. So Fackinas I'm just not quite sure what ur trying to say

Hi hoodi! I have a blog detailing exactly that, growing from freerolls to having a bankroll:

http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&id...

I am primarily a cash game player, and have had some ups and downs as you will see in my blog. Right now after almost disappearing I am over the $10 mark again and am slowly rebuilding, playing 40bb buy-in at 5NL. You are right about how a challenge like this makes you appreciate your bankroll! GL! Smile

Well I guess I am with out actually doing that challenge since I have no way to deposite so I'm trying to build a bankroll from nothing so far I'm up to $1.14. Note I just started trying yesterday since I have tried every option and every thing is declined for depositing money. I don't know any one that would bankroll me or even atleast be able to transfer money via paypal or some thing so they can make the deposit for me and transfer the money to me.

was thinking that full tilt could be the best as it has loads of freerolls there,
but the down side is theres plenty of players in them,
but if you have patients to play them you will cash Smile

No I never tried and will try the challenge, because it is difficult for me to control myself concerning bankroll management. When it comes to my bankroll, I do not play within my bankroll. Confused

Dozn, there are definately plenty of both players and freerolls, Ive cashed once in the H.O.R.S.E freeroll finished 45th lol, About 3 times in the US freeroll that pays 90 but never for more than 2 bucks, and cashed in a few of these BRM freerolls, and a couple of poker curious freerolls, but my cashes have been for so little and so spaced out I haven't been able to get past the 10$ mark. Last time I cashed decently I went out 8th for .90 cents in a BMR and my 45th place for like a 1$ and I donked my winnings right back into a cash game, playing very very poorly.(due to outside frustration factors, shouldn't have been playing). I currently am sitting at .50 cents on my fulltilt account and am holding myself to only playing when I have enough to play a 1$ 9 person s-n-g. I have crushed(well built a roll 2 different times from a stake deal from one of my close friends) the dollar level on Fulltilt before, but squandered my roll, due to bad management. That's why I'm challenging myself and urging others to live without a roll and try to build it from scratch. It takes imense patience. I'm finding reserves of patience I didn't know I had. Agree

A small update Mobster's, was playing a private freeroll on FT before going to a live game, playe super aggressive but with the best hand...The amazing thing is AA, held up against 2 other players!! Anyhow I made my way up to 28k in chips, before I had to leave for the live game(more lucrative). When I returned home I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did I make the money(the tourney paid 99 places), but I went out 23rd!! Lol, due to the small nature of the private tourney the cash was only worth .10, but that moves the roll up to a whopping .60 cents, almost enough to try my luck at a S-n-G. Big Smile Wish me luck mobster's, this is one of the toughest poker feats I've ever tried to accomplish. If I make it, I will definately never try again! Building a roll from nothing feels alot like this Aww crap! I believe in the long run though it will vastly improve my game. Until next time, Same Mob time, Same Mob Channel. GL at the tables
