Omaha High Pot Limit  0
Can't seem to get this game! Is it best to have 2 low cards (example 3 5) and 2 high cards
(example A J) or suited cards when deciding whether or not to play the hand. Looking for advice since I haven't found much literature on this. Sad

We are talking about Omaha high here? Not high/low?

It is best if all 4 cards can act together. To be double suited allways helps. Position is also important. The average hand strenghts is much higher than in Hold'em.

Best hands preflop are AAKK double suited and AAJT double suited. But Omaha is a flop game. If your hand does not connect with the flop, you are in trouble.

My thinking in this game:
omaha hi lo prefer that kind of thinking -->(2low cards & 2high cards). Omaha hi then is like hold´em with 4cards but when you have 4 cards there are also many hands to catch like flush and straight for instance so good hand cosist something like ( 10 Heart J Club K Heart A Club )<--monster Big Smile also paired hands are good --the higher the better. so something like : (5 Club 5 Spade A Spade A Club ) <--great.

One important thing to consider in omaha hi is that one card can change the whole hand upsidedown especially if it is multihanded game so be aware Evil

Thanks for the feedback, I still got my butt kicked. Basically trying some of the different types of games out since being off work 2 days now. Good Luck to you!

I think the most novice mistake in Omaha, is players not knowing that you MUST use two of your whole cards, meaning there are no one card straights, or one cards flushes. And if the board has 3 of a kind on it, unless both of your whole cards play you only have trips, not a boat, even if you have a K on a board of K1010102.....AA in your hand would be a boat 101010AA, get it? This is a tough game, I'm still trying to improve my game, prolly one of my worst. Hope this helps though. Cool

Omaha is a great game. But you gotta realize that there are lot more combinations
to hit for both you and your oponent. So one thing u got to be good at before
playing omaha is calculating your(and oponents) chances, wich is more difficult
than in hold em. For both games being able to do the math is a very important
part. Smile Cool

Lots of people say play low and fall high. I personally have never used this strategy since high is guaranteed 1/2 the pot and is gonna blow it a lot of the time when no 8 or better gets there . Any way you play is gonna be a learning experience at this time so good luck Smile Smile

i think u need to use 2kind of starting hand. AA23dublesuited (i think one of the best) good to made a potbet preflop. A245,A234,A346 and same good to limp or call a smaller bet.
second type hands: JTKA,JKQA,J9T8,KK23 (connected cards with suiteds,or high pais with low cards). This hand type of hands good to cath preflop AA2* raiser, and if he didnt hit low and try to bluff u can stack him. Sometimes good to limp with AA23..

AJ35 will not be that ideal, best to play 4 connected, double-suited (e.g. JTKQ, 4567, etc). The key is to have 4 hole cards that help each other because in PLO, you must use 2 hole cards. Also, never fall in love with AA in PLO unless you can isolate your opponent to HU, otherwise AA almost get cracked in most situations with 2 or more opponents(unless you hit of course). Golden rule in PLO is never draw unless you are drawing to the nuts I remember someone telling me...

I limp a lot with AAxx in early position or AAxx single suited....I choose to just see a flop and see what happens, a lot cheaper this way because in PLO, a lot of donks never fold pre-flop.

Mate, check out ***LINK REMOVED - AGAINST OUR RULES! /ADMIN*** for the basic info, hope it helps a bit.

Thanks for all the feed back and yes hoodi, I realize (now) you have to use two whole cards. Also, seems like sraights and flushes are very common. Pairs aren't nothing in most cases. And, biankahun! Your intellect is very good for someone your age or maybe I'm just used to MOST U.S. girls (at the age of 21) being very, well I'll leave it at that. Again thanks to all for the feedback and Good Luck at the tables!

xxxYUMIxxx, sorry I missed the link.
