World Series of Poker (WSOP)
Situation: $5/$10 6 handed cash game.
Your Position / Stack: SB / $1,000
Your Hand: 8s6d
Action: Cutoff limps with $800 behind.
Callers / Stack: Button / $1,200. You call and BB checks with $400 behind.
...
Flop: 8h8cAh

Action is on you – What do you do on this street and how do you see the hand playing out?

We can check here and wait what the others are doing. After the preflop action, or better, the lack of it, it is unlikely someone has an ace. So we won't play a big pot anyway.

Hm...
and what about with all those limped in hands, if a heart will come up on the turn ?
Me personally mayby would have placed a bet on this, trying to protecd my hand against a flush draw.
Am I so wrong with this ? - you know that I am a beginner, so it is an intersting question to me.

I think I would bet too representing a bluff. As shokaku said this pot is unlikely to get big anyway but if we are going to wait until the turn to bet we are only going to get called by hands that will cause trouble. I mean few people will call a raise/re-raise even if they pair on the turn.

Bet the flop. Players with a small pocket pair or flush draw will call. If they think you are bluffing they will usually raise in which case re-raise and take it down early. If they call you can imagine what they would call with and are in better position when you have to act first on the turn, whereas if it's checked round on the flop and a Qh comes on the turn there are too many possibilities that you can get called/raised by. Flush, nut flush draw, pair of Qs, trip 8s, pocket pair etc.

lol i would of raised pre flop then lead out on the flop lol, in this case i will bet $40 people could have a flush draw or they could just float and try rep the 8 or A on the turn or river and if it was me they would prob not believe i had anything Big Smile Big Smile there is a chance he limped in with a weak A to like A6 or something hope to hit an A and its disguised as people tend to bet when an A on the flop anyway to rep it and just call you down so take them to value town Cool
well said awood you must of been doing this same time as me Big Smile

Depends who playes.

Cut-off limping could mean a strong hand, but is it a pocket A?
Button - strong hand too..

I would check and see what happen. We don't have a position.
Probably call if rise would be not big...
I don't belive that one of those players dosn't have at least Ax and there would be hard to drive him out...

Blinds are small and we have time to build our stack.

Characteristic of opponents metter.

Bet is good here. If one of players have ace he wont fold it for sure. If he reraise with his ace then I would flat call that and continue to extract money from him. If we check raise he will become suspicious and we will take less money from him and if we check call we missed our opportunity to play for bigger money.

I check so maybe someone bets, hopefully someone doesn't know 8 is out and they have A, beter yet A8 and someone else has an A also. I bet on the turn after it's a 2d, I raise and omg they call. River is an 8, I have 4-8's win pot. The player betting didn't have A8 as I thought. Now that's my fantasy hand please don't condemn. lol Good Luck to all!

Yeah I think betting out will be my preferred move here for 2 main reasons. One is find out info and other is to know where do I stand.represent you have A with weak kicker thus preventing a raise from opponent as well....I mean what can you do if he has an 8 as well or AA...but you sure do not want to miss a bet here.
