Hi all
I have a question for all you experienced mobsters. BMWman especially.
I have the money to enter a few FTOPS events this time round but, as I am so inexperienced do you think I should do it? Or should I save my money and build my expereince up? How often do they run the FTOPS series of events?
I know some of you may think what is this idiot up to but believe me I am just trying to improve my poker game as one day I would like to win one of these main events and now looking to enter my first live tournament at my local casino.

You should never feel like an idiot, even the pro's had to start somewhere right? It's been a while since Doyle and Slim were playing on sawhorses in backrooms but it's still the same game. The FTSOP happens once or twice a year maybe, I believe. I've never really played in them so I'm not certain. On playing in the events my advice would be to check out Chris Fergesun's rules on Bank Roll Management, when bulding a bankroll from 0- 10,000$ in a 9 month period he used strict rules, like never playing in atournament or rin game that's buy in was more than 5% of his total bankroll, excluding the 1$ tournies when he was begining. Hoe this helps, these are the rules I follow.

They're tough rules to follow, very strict, alot of pro's don't even follow those rules. There's a reason he's been referred to as a "knit", which means a very tight player just in case you weren't familair with the term. He's one of my personal favorites though. GL in your endeavors Marc.

I really didn't like that comment against yourself,(idiot) is a term that doesn't apply to you. I think you should try some of the 90 seat tourneys. If you don't have a lot of confidence in your game yet. Hoodi's comment about Chris Ferguson is bang on. Read everything you can that he wrote. He is prob my most fav player. Because he will talk to us common folk. Gives good advice and helps everyone learn from his experience. FTOPS runs every spring. It's kind of the WSOP online at FTP. My advice would be to play in some of the miniFTOPS events. The buyins are a lot cheaper. And it can help you discover what it might be like in the real FTOPS. Read as much as you can about poker. Even old threads here can be very useful. I would also advise you to participate more here. I have a feeling you don't come in here that much. Hey Marc, one thing I can tell you is there's no one in the BRM forum that has ever made me feel out of place asking serious questions. I'm a beginner and these Mobsters have been great in answering some (probably) very basic questions for me. It's a great place to read, learn and meet some great people from all over the world. FTOPS running often there is FTOPS and MINIFTOPS so when 1 ends then in 1month starts other and this happens all the time so u can find FTOPS running everytime almost ;]

Man start tournaments with 1$ buyin and play a lots of cash games,and after a year or something try to go for FTOPS satelites only.GOing into FTOPS direct buy in will produce great hole in your bankroll.I was play last mini FTOPS MAIN EVENT and belive me on my table there was ppl who have bankroll over 100000$ and play regulary tournaments over 100$ every day.From 8 ppl every single one was realy expirianced.On my table first elimination come after 2 hours of playing.
