Hello all. I need a little help and would like some suggestions please. It seems that when I get in a multi table tourny one of two things always seems to happen, 1 I start the tourny too loose, but my real problem is number 2, When nearing the bubble or the final quarter of the tourney I tend to play to loose or to tight. Now one would think that knowing this I could correct the problem, but for some reason I am having trouble solving this issue. I would like any suggestions anyone has to offer.

Thank you for your time! Confused

How many tables are you playing when on a tourney? If you're only playing with 1 table on the tourney then you might lose some concentration, try to play with 2 tables, one tourney and the other just a cash table to keep your concentration.

i uno i think it all depends on the situation if your sometimes to loose and to tight maybe that can work for you advantage you gotta find the right times to play those way lol i no its easy to say lol but still..

and wouldnt playing more tables make you lose concentration more?

If youre nearing bubble and youre shortstacked, bunker in, dont play even the strong hands, only A-A, until youre into money. Ive been kicked out of tourney too many times with strong hands, when almost in the money. And about first thing play loose but not with total crap cards, yes you can get lucky with 7-2 off, but in most cases you dont, connectors, high cards etc. Another thing play loose only preflop, if you dont hit flop, you didnt hit it end of story.

And style of play greatly depends on poker room where youre playing at, some rooms are loose other tight, you have to evaluate and take advantage. If theyre too tight try bluffing on crapy flop, if noone did hit it pot is yours.

Answer to Italia below
EDIT: Yes but missing one hand and getting into money or maybe wining one hand that doesnt have to change anything about outcome of tourney, ill choose missing it. My suggestion.

yea but then again you have to check the other peoples size of their stacks aswell that are in the tourny cuz if you bunker yourself in then the blinds will eventually eat you alive.. and your missing out on chips that could help you gain more money.. but definalty your number 1 goal is to get in the money

i always say the only thing you can do at this stage is get your chips in when you know your infront if you happen to come unstuk its just the run of the ball against you

It is always very important to constantly check the positions and stacksizes of the opponents. This will allow you to play aggressive when needed and also to not play at all if you get the chance. When getting close to the bubble, even hands like JJ QQ can be an easy fold going up against more than one player.

i dont know if i agree, i dont think that your number one goal should be too get into the money, if you are short stacked then yes try and back into the money, but if you have an average stack now is the time to steal aggressively,

the reason i say this is because if you just get into the money you usually only win back your buy in plus a bit, and so you would have to be ITM 2 out of every 3 to just break even, whereas if you go for first you can get 50 to 300 times your buy in, in some situations this is different, in certain tournaments the bubble pays out 5 buy ins, at this point i care, otherwise i think aimng for first or at elast top 5 is the only real way to come out profitably of MTT

I usually do pretty well in multi table tournaments. I play pretty tight in the begining, and try not to get in any real big pots unless i am very sure of my hand. Later on when the blinds are higher I will play looser and if i am still with some of the original players from earlier, I will have a rep as being tight. and I can usually get a couple bluffs in and still some blinds.
