Looking at the chip stacks, you can see there is one player who is really shortstacked.

Yes good fold, especially from EP - if you shoved you may get called by 3-4 big stacks looking to check it down.

I see people playing satellites wrong all the time, nice to see somebody understanding the chip dynamics on a satellite bubble.

yea with one guy with 500 and only him to go no big point in risking it but if he makes a miracle come back you would be kicking yourself if you were the bubble boy Big Smile

Oh yes...I remember folding AA on the bubble once too as well in a similar situation. It's all about getting the seat!

For this format it was a smart play because top eight pays the same. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Agrtee with almos all, it is a good fold here: the shortstack is the one who has to make the move; you don't need to accumulate chips because of prizes structure

Folding AA preflop with nobody all in already is never a smart move.

There was this guy in The Big Game from pokerstars who folded AA and KK preflop just to secure his winnings.

But why do you play poker if you dont like to risk playing with AA or KK? Aww crap!

Did you even read what I wrote before I posted the HH?
9 players left,8 players get the ticket,1 player brutally shortstacked...I saw no need to risk my almost secured ticket there,it's not about "not liking to risk playing with AA/KK",it's about knowing the payout structure...

Offcourse well done, its about the seat, you don't have to win the tourney.
Gl, i"ll also be playing the LAST(!) turbo takedown. The prizepool is 750K
instead of the usual 1 million and no car for the winner this time Sad
You"ll see, just when the prizepool is reduced i"ll win. I'm just that
unlucky Smile . See you at the finaltable, good luck Cool

In this case, nothing wrong with folding AA preflop.

as it is a satellite and everyone is getting the same price it is more than fine to lay it down. In a normal tourney of course you could never make such a laydown as you allways wanna go first and doesn´t care the bubble. but in that case: Why taking any risk at all?

Yeah, that had to be a relief when the shortstacker went out because your chip stack was close to the bottom too, and if he survived another few rounds and your stack is dwindling it starts making you a very easy target, regardless of your hole cards! Thumbs Up

18 months ago I would say you did the wrong thing but now I have learned my lesson - the fold AA pre-flop was the best thing to do considering position and the prize structure. Well done BEMYATPLz - sorry if I got your name wrong !!!

It's a very good call indeed, there was no need to risk, especially on a poker platform like pokerstars which is well knowed for the bad beats you get especially on river. On a freeroll or on a cash game table i would definately shove it all in. Just as a fyi, yesterday i lost with AA on SB on pokerstars on a no limit holdem 0.25/0.50$ cash table. Cutoff raised to 3x with KQ, he was short stacked and a fish. I raised 3 times his bet and he decided to go all in, i call. Flop was J4A(i flopped trips), turn is a 7 and you guessed already the river is a lucky T. The good part was that after 15 or so hands i won all his money with TTT vs two pairs, so it was good in the end.
Good call again and good luck in the future! Let us know on your progress on scoop.

when the short stack folds, theres no point being in the pot anymore unless u like to collect chips at expense of losing a surely earned ticket. i seen many ppl go 'bonkers' in satellite games and lose just because they cant fold their AA

good job!

yeah. There is just no single reason for you not to fold here. Only thing would be if you hate this guy Blink But that would mean you would play with the influence of emotions which is generally -ev Blink
