Phil Ivey, who many consider the best poker player in the world, has finally spoken out on Black Friday. In a press release that was released on May 30th, Phil writes that he's very disappointed that Full Tilt players still haven't received their money since Black Friday and therefore he has decided not to take part in the 2011 WSOP. But that's not all. Phil has also filed a lawsuit against Tiltwa[...] Read more » Phil Ivey: "I am not playing in the World Series of Poker"

This is a very complex statement to analyse. At a first view, the reader can feel satisfied for watching a pro talking in the name of other players, and caring for their rights. But, when realizing he is sponsored by that company, he is someone from the inside. Why would he talk against his boss if his situation is solved? It looks like he is talking as a union leader... On the other side, one cant forget that this can be an arranged statement and if FTP solves this situation in a couple of days/weeks, the room will get even more publicity than already has - which will certainly bring more money to the company.

wow he filed a lawsuit against the company sponsoring him , indeed a very bold move from him which might hav bad consequences for him. but lets see whether it leads to any action from fulltilt.

His complaint is with Tiltware not fulltilt. Not playing the WSOP means nothing, and to say he is not playing due to outhers not being able to is a bunch of crap, this is IMO is a "I want my money, I have power and influence" remark so he gets his. He talks of being a poker player yet this whole statement is about a payment process, no mention of the situation itself, and talks on behalf of all poker players WTF!!...only took a short while to open your trap Phil and still have said very little. Stupid statment.
Well, it's a litlle bid weird statement, as B1gfoot said. I like him, but I also think that not playing in the WSOP won't hurt anyone at all. It also looks like he is fighting for his money, but well... we can't be sure, can we? I don't like to assume that someone is selfish etc., so I also don't think that way, but it's how it looks for me. It may help other US players, so it isn't so stupid. The stupid thing here is what GIOMi mentioned - PS could pay US players, FTP can't.

Posted by GIOMi6: Well it is true FTP did not start paying US based players their money, but PS already did, why could PS refund and FTP not ?
Simple. Pokerstars has the money and Full Tilt doesn't. They are trying to raise money now at the WSOP. I guess this is the first step for Ivey to move to another poker room.
