Is it me or have the W/E´s gone to hell?  0
Just played 3 tournaments and an SnG.

Regular MTT:
Party $8 buy-in
Pokerstars $4.40 buy-in

Ante-up: (antes rise, blinds stay at 5/5)
Pokerstars $2.20

In ALL 3 tourneys, people were raising, re-raising and eventually all-in with 2,3,4 people EVERY turn!
I realised after a while I would never see a flop unless I followed a 8x raise or all-in.
I waited for absolute premium hands.

AA got busted by 22
KK by A2
AK by A3
etc. etc.
impossible to know what anyone is holding...for me at least.

So my questions are:

Did all the nutcases from FT assemble at Party and Pokerstars?
Are the "weekend Donks" permanently out in force now?
Is it the combination Summer/Weekend/2011 ??
How the hell do you navigate one of these tournaments and actually cash?

Especially that last question.
I tried smallball first, no use, because of the ridiculous raises and all-ins.
Then I tried super tight TAG and got busted everywhere with ALL premium holdings.

Help ! Confused
Any advice at all here?
Or am I playing the wrong sites with the added traffic on them?
Kinda stumped all of a sudden...

When every site increases its player volume that means that donks will increase too.
Its obvious in most of the sites both where the players are more than it used to, that there are more donkfests.
Try to find games that many of them arent involved or if you cant wouldnt hurt to try a different site
I wish you good luck and bust those donks Smile

Nothing new under the sun.

This is just normal play in low buy-in donkaments, espacially on the weekends. Variance is high, and as we learned this WSOP ME A6o beats AA.

Couldnt play for a while because I was travelling more than a month back and forth.
Haven´t played these lows on weekends in a while either, was mostly playing weekdays, if at all.
Maybe I´m just not used to it anymore? That and some unfortunate suckouts?

Shokaku is right .
Its worst on weekends, even more players in and besides that there are the players that are loaded and playing with money for fun.
Plus some times you get unlucky and you are ending up at tables where some higher limts players came to blow some steam Smile

Now I´m sure it´s just a horrible run.
Played a couple of Sng´s as well, and keep losing with anything.
AA again (pre and trips), KK again, QQ (guy hit trips), and everything else.
Had triple the number of chips of the next guy, and still lost to a guy hitting trips 5 times in one Sng!!
Ridiculous.
Kinda kills the fun for today.

nothing you can do when half of the table decides to play bingo, but just wait for good cards and pray. have ended up on such tournaments now and then but not this frequently.
gl in future tournaments Blink

Sometimes there's just nothing you can do... You gotta keep in mind poker IS gambling and even if you play like a god you usually always have atleast 18% chance to lose wich is pretty high. The only thing you can do is not go on tilt and keep playing good!

Good luck Blink

Yes, it is actually true, i saw similar threads on other poker forums online and people were saying pretty much the same, i mean the numbers of maniacs increased significantly on pokerstars...

In a no limit game, like a no limit holdem tournament, sng, or even cash games this is a very bad thing considering the numbers of time you lose with premium hands on pokerstars Thumbs Down

On the other hand it' s a pretty good thing for me since i decided only to play pot limit omaha on pokerstars so every time a maniac is joining a table regulars are jumping to take his money Evil

It really seems that way compared to before.
Never seen so much garbage play in my life.
Even at the $10 buy-in level for MTTs.

Kind of worrysome... Confused

Try putting people on a range ... when they have none.... Aww crap!

AGAIN !!!!!!!...busted by trips in 3 more SnG´s.
And I´m talking pre-flop!
I thought the odds were 1 in 10 to hit trips. At least that´s what they are for me.
What a day.....

Friday is pay day for a lot of people, so that brings out some stupidity, also party is linked with gambling sites so tends to have a few worse players than some of the rest.
I had a quick flutter on PS last night and made final table both games I played (90 man 7$ KOs) each torun was manic, I sat back and did what you did and luckily hit for stacks, just fold your way to the money, yep boring but when the donks are out then not a lot you can do. (in all I played around 7-8 hand for both tourns, excluding easy blinds)

Well i dont know about party tourneys but i think i know the ones you talking about on stars.

the $2 one your talking about can be real tough and its full to the brim with fish, if you are going to raise in it you have to raise massive. I always bet the pot or over if you have a big hand kind of play it like a freeroll shipping it all in if you have a big pair and you know you got some calling idiots after you, the donks will always pay you off.

The $4.40 one is that the 1000 cap, there is a few of the $4.40 ones on stars and i have always found them to be a real fish fest, anytime i have played them i always get sucked out on by some idiot.

Its the reason i would much rather play good players as i tend to do better, i think its often harder to get through a table full of fish than a table of good players. Dont get me wrong a few fish at the table calling anything is great but if you have a table full of them its like a mine field you have no fecking idea what they ever have alot of the time as they call with anything and everything no matter whats happened before them.

hey jack good to see you around you fancy doing a BRM tourney some time you were always a faithful

I´ve always been drawn to large fields, and that´s where survival depends on at least "some" rules of play. I mean 2.000 and up.
Ready to give up on those now...too many "landmines"...
Unfortunately that´s where the nice payouts are. Smile
Maybe just having a lousy week losing with just about every premium hand.

Hey Flipped! Blink

Like you say, I´ve always done better against good players, they make sense when they play, and odds and raises are "linked" at least.
I have seen some videos from "JecksUp", a Deuces Cracked instructor who I like to see.
He says he loses more to fish than good players, and that this is normal when playing "good" Poker.

The $4.40 was the one you said. All-in from start to finish (until I got my AA busted), often with 4 players!
WTF?

Anyway, I started another post about this trend in general, but thanks for the input all!

And Flipped, I´d love to have a game anytime. Was always good fun.

I can relate to you there, I am getting swamped today too. Must be a Saturday, summer, day thing. I've had KK 5 times this morning and only gotten blinds and one of them cracked by 9To catching the 2 pair. I'm playing cash games and down quite a but already. I hope it turns around for you, and me. Good luck.
