ive played a couple of double through games of late and found that the best way of playing is to sit tight and wait for the big hand in the hope you double up and can then fold your way to the finish, its a bit risky though and was wondering if anyone had other ideas on how to play this type of game?thanks all and gl on the felts...

that sounds about right... counting that there's a few "wild cards" playing in ur table also, or else blinds will catch up and than even k3 will be a good all-in hand.

DoNs? Do nothing, but do it good. A bit boring, but playing only premium hands in early stages does work fine in those. Of cause we have to loosen up, if the blinds get high.

Hi
My advice, play tight, play with only strong hands, must be patient and let the others screw up and you will double up. I find the game very boring since everyone plays very tight,I like playing 3 games at a time, since you will fold 99% of the hands, this is one game PATIENT will payoff!

Fold everything except AA and KK, play QQ and JJ as small pair and nothing else until blinds get really high and then...weeeeeeee....push all in from button and cutoff with almost anything. This is not real poker but it is only profitable way...chears

I love Double Up tournaments, especially the super turbos on the iPoker network (blinds go up every minute). The biggest thing is knowing when to push I think. You won't be the on;y one trying to skirt your way into the win, but the tables will tighten up when it's down to the last man, so that's usually the time to buy a few blinds. Goood luck.
Double or nothings are boring but yeah a pretty easy way to make money! A bit of luck at start to get some chips from a fish is always nice in those. When you have a stack to sit on you're pretty sure to make the cash!

Just played few of them so far, but I guess as all others wrote, patience will pay off. I guess I will try to play them in future to build up my small BR on Carbon. On Party Poker there are no DoNs on small limits.

One thing with DoN's....you dont HAVE to be the guy to knock people out... ( sounds silly i know, but with a big stack its not on your back to take out everyone else...and it makes no sense too either if you get into a 60/40 70/30 or worse 50/50.)
Somebody has already mentioned it but google the Independent Chip Model ( ICM ) It should help a load. GL dude

DONs are easy money if you know how to play them. dont be adventurous in early stages, one mistake and its allover. and when the blind gets high, try stealing blinds when you can. most of the times when you raise/ go allin you dont wanna be called, unless you are too shortstacked and need a double up to survive. when you have a decent stack, just relax and dont try to win all the chips on the table. and multitable if you can, playing only 1 table will lead to itchy fingers.

DONS follow a simple formula. Play tight, wait for a premmie, double up and go back to folding. Like it was said in the other thread, they are a good way to build a roll relatively risk free but you really have to have rakeback for them to be profitable.

That is if you are lucky and you get those premium hands. Cause if you keep waiting and nothing comes up you are forced to play with the crap you get unless you wanna the blinds take you out.
