alright toshiba says my hard drive was fried..even tho it worked this morning...anyway cani run my laptop just off an external hard drive? ive got a 1trig one kicking around

new update...put laptop in closet and gave up. luckily my sister still had her old one floating around gonna be hard to get back used to windows xp but better then nothing. thanks agin, joe

You'll need to start the system recovery console and as I recall type in fix mgr or mbr

what kind of Toshiba you have? Can you give me the details off of the tag underneath?

Just pulled into work...using my blackberry right now ill check the details when I get home for lunch..I'd love to get it working agin and fixed up. My sisters laptop seems to be working freat but its just not the same lol

very unlikely for the hard disk to be damaged and more unlikely for some1 to find about this on phone.
try installing windows on it thru windows cd/dvd

and running laptop from ext hard drive - your motherboard should hav option to boot from usb hard disk
