How do you feel about late registration for tournaments?  0
Hi all! I have been playing online for the last five years, and when I first started I used to play cash as well as SNG and MTT. I did okay at all three but have dropped MTT from the list for the past few years because often I just don't have hours of time to play the game. I decided to try again at MTT recently, but one thing that has changed over the years (I think Confused ) is the late registration. It used to be too late too bad, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes. Now on 888 it is usually an hour.

Do you guys like the late entries or not? Do you enter late on purpose to play shortstack strategy? Do you enter on time and gobble up these guys as they enter?

Personally I liked the old format better, with 5 minute late entry in case you remember at the last minute your tourney. I find that now until the first hour is over it is often a bingo match as these late entries come in, gamble with any two half decent cards, and then suck out on you while you have been building a stack using solid poker. My opinion!

For me 60min of late reg is ok no problems with it, when i play a MTT i allways try to enter on time, i play tight in the beginning so if i fold a lot i dont miss a lot of chips but if i enter late i can miss a lot hands/chips like big premium hands but also set hunting with my low pairs.
I only use late reg when i really am to late Agree

Also: late reg players make the prices better on final table so no problem let them come in large fields Thumbs Up

Hi! I prefer short period for late entries, I vote for 10 minutes if they allow me Smile

i personaly hate it and i rarely register for a tourny if i see there´s an late registration. better no late reg at all, 5min is fine everything above is way too much.
i often joined tournys with 100 participants (i prefer smaller tournys with max up to 150 players) then due to the late registration all of a sudden there were 400 or even more players Shock

depends: if its a guaranted prizepool tourny with less players the prizepool wont increase at all.
and as smaller the field as better chances you have to reach final table imo.

I am the same opinion like doomdy and everytime trying to make it in time.
But I feel 10 min time for late reg is okay and I prefer that.
I guess the sites are using 60min late reg for attracting more entries into the tourneys...

Apart from tourneys with guaranteed prize pool I don't mind it. Many times I will see a tourney and I think I might play that but I don't like to reg until five minutes before and I might end up missing the start. Why do I reg so late? I'm not sure but often it's cos I haven't made up my mind, I might be doing something else when the tourney starts or maybe there aren't enough people in the tourney yet. So I think 10 mins late reg is standard whilst rebuys should let you reg right up til the end of the rebuy period.

Hi,I also hate when somebody enter sfter 45 min of play,it's OK when you have 5-10 minutes late registration but that 1 hour is stupid and I hate that Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap!

I usually dont late reg. much since I probably open more hands at the beginning than others do.
Gets me a slightly bigger edge when I have a postflop edge against the fishes that usually bust during the first 30 minutes Blink

As much as Ive played in pkr.com its 60min, bigger tourneys 90mins of late reg.
I think its great(Y).
Ive often thought of playing "this particular" tourney, but have forgotten to register..with late reg. option you can easily jump in & besides - the bigger the field the better the prizes - isnt this the reason why we all love to play mtt's and poker Confused Tongue

Depends on the tourney and the places getting paid.
I have more luck getting paid when im registering late than when i start the tourney from the beggining.
There is a different psychology depending on the time you enter, the places getting paid and the prizes.

I don't have a good idea about this, in fact this is one of the reasons i don' like to play tournaments...

Still, those that enter late in the game start with a big disadvantage of course and they risk it all.

Still, another thing i like about tournament it's multi entry, that is a smart thing Blink

As a rule i try to enter in a tournament on time. if by any reason i forget or cant login in time i do make a late registration IF the blinds r still low (level 2 tops, meaning 40/20). i don't mind the late register, as said here before it only adds to the prize pool Dollar .

Would prefer no late registration, people just keep registering and it will then take ages for a tourny to end I usually like small number of players thats when you know that there are very few bingo players.

Unlimited rebuys, double rebuys, and an add on for an hour. Usually the buy ins are very cheap. I think this type of MTT is designed to increase the pay out of the prize pool otherwise one would play alot of poker for a very small pay out. The odd time I've registered late, bought a double rebuy with an add on and went on to cash. Of course one needs to time it right, and if one doesn't follow this format chances are one will blind out anyway. It's a way to avoid the bingo hour.

late reg no problem for me. It's more likely than unlimited rebuy MTT, but I chose 30 minutes

I see this working as a strategy for some players who dont mind spending a little bit more with the game. Entering late to an MTT may give one a chance to try some crazy all-ins with the possibility of making rebuy during first hour. This way, if one enters after 45 minuts ofthe start, it can do something like this to try to get some considerable distance from the last places faster. After 45min, those who are still with the first buy-in, probably dont consider a rebuy, and turn to be an easy target for those who are just robbing blinds. Of course that this can go wrong and make us do more rebuys, but if money isnt problem, it can work. In my case, i prefer to start from the begining, slowly and with MTT caution. Entering late will blow my mind and my bankroll....

for me late reg doesn't make a difference,i try to play the way i normally would anyway ,you do get people registering late and going all in and trying to double up and get in to the money you just have to be carefull with these players
