After about 7,5 hours of 3-handed play, the 2011 World Series of Poker finally got a winner, Pius Heinz, 22, from Germany. Heinz is the first German player in WSOP history to win the Main Event. For the win he received amazing $8,7 million dollars (the 3rd biggest cash in WSOP history) while Martin Staszko got $5,4 million for his efforts. This is how the final hand was played out:

What a way to end a tourney like this: a run! Staszko knew he was behind, but a single card could change everything and put him in the lead of the tourney. I guess that if he had won this hand, it would be difficult to put him out of the first place. But that didn’t happened and Pius deserves this $8,7mill, because he leaded for so long and always playing very well. First german winner, nice tittle too, let’s bring more prizes like this to Europe!

I only got to see the pre-final table segment of the WSOP this year, but it was hilarious how LAGgy the players at that level are. I've just now started to play a fair share of MTT's (before it was strictly cash games and S&G's), and if I do say so myself I'm well on my way to final tabling the WSOP (after doing so in a $3.30 R/A ). Nah seriously I am happy for all of those who managed to profit this year (not just in the ME), and glad that Black Friday didn't affect the entire WSOP.

That's a very nice prize indeed, in fact, all the way down to the 9th place i guess no one can complain on the return they got for their investment. Its a life changing situation even if you're only 22 years old like the champ here and if he doesnt screw it up he'll never have to worry about money again. envy its all i can feel lol

That we have not posted many did not mean it is not 'respected and hounored'. It just means that the news has not traveled so much.
