ill start off with my name on BRM is my beloved 5 year old daughter who's full name is Caledonia,im starting this blog for 1 reason and that's that Ive just turned 40 and never played live poker in my life,I've played on/off on line for a couple of years and improved immensely but not not enough(IMO) My big sis who is a pit boss in a casino has offered to take me to a poker tourney on Fri night to play my first live poker as a birthday treat and im really wanting to but feel so nervous about it. You don't have to think about chips playing on line but in the bricks and mortar its a different story? any advice from the mobsters would be appreciated...

I have never played live poker yet, but have looked into it a bit, here is a link that seems to offer good and thorough advice, I bookmarked it a while back, and good luck if you decide to go!

Its the same as online, fold your AKs after a reraise preflop and 3 bet light your 27o after same min raises preflop. Postflop its also the same as online, with semi nuts check-raise, with nuts check-call, so simple...

maybe you should read something about poker tells ,it might help you in readding your adversaries and maybe you won t get bluffed..this is the only thing different from on line poker..play same game but watch your opponets, how they look to chips or to the flop or things like that ..best of luck hope it will be a nice experience ..i like playing live more than online btw ..

Happy Birthday. Well I wont lie, its a little daunting, I think it depends on who is at the table to how you feel. My expereinceis that most people at the table want to have fun, lots of witty banter. The like of size betting, chip count will come naturally, actually posting blinds does not!
Do not look at your cards until it is your go, and look for tells, shaky hands, pulsing veins, fidgeting (me)...have a drink, have fun...it not too different to online, you just get to see emotions.

Hi and happy birthday to you fellow Scorpio ( my b=day is Friday the 18th),
Best advice I will give you is RELAX. Live play is not that much different than online really,( you get the all in idiots first hand, chasers,( my personal favorite gggrrrrr).
Look at the benefits.
#1- you get to watch people as they play and live is easier as if your like me and study as you play what they are doing win or lose then it gives you something to do when waiting.
#2- You are not alone in being nervous. So is the rest of them.
#3- When you win and see ,( or hopefully try to see around your large stack ), you cant do that on line. Also there is no problem with losing internet connection
Relax, have a drink ( not to many though), and enjoy. Maybe you wont hit it big but experience cannot be beat.
