The game is so dynamic i think you'd have to assert some parameters to find the answer. I really liked the asteroid belt bike riding analogy but thats not really important. jus saying it was a good example of playing mtt's
So the parameters you should use? What do the pros use? $$$. The game of poker is a means to an end. Its not even about cards really. Its about being able to outsmart your opponent and take advantage of certain observations. We could relegate money aside for a moment though and look at it differently. Say you are in it for a big hit. You simply want to roll yourself into some mtt's in the hopes once in a while you can ship a large withdrawal. This isnt poker per se but it is popular and understandable.
This is getting too long so ill jump ahead to my conclusion. Be water.

Just look in the mirror and say I am a good poker player - I know its not as easy as that but its all in knowing that you are a Good player, that's where it starts.
