Best NL Hold em player ever top 5  0
I know this opinion based and the best player doesnt necessarily win the most money or tournaments, but i'd just like to know what other mobsters' top no limit hold em players are. Mine are:

1. Phil Hellmuth (pains me to say it but he is in my opinion)
2. Daniel Negreanu (purely on his amazing reads)
3. Phil Ivey (no nonsense, just pure poker genius)
4. Erik Siedel (dont see or hear much of him nowadays but his record speaks for itself an he can still play as well as the best)
5. Barry Greenstein (maybe a shock addition to the list but every game he plays is a technical master class in poker strategy)

It really depends what kind of no limit holdem, i mean cash or mtt and most of all if it's live or online.

I think live cash tom dwan and phil ivey are the best, erik seidel is the best live mtt player and online the title goes to viktor blom, scott palmer and dan cates.

Yeah, but what about Phil Ivey and Barry Greenstein both owing FT part of that 16 million dollars? Maybe their just overpublicized! Not saying their not good, but if they're in the red and not the black then how good are they?

Really? I havent heard about that, didnt Phil Ivey part own an help create FT though maybe Barry Greenstein did also an thats y they owe so much. Barry Greenstein might have 2 cut down on his button raises in cash games now lol

man there is no such thing as a good poker player: but there are those who are the luckiest of the pack- think about it- at the high stakes level all the guys know the basic rules of the game, all the advanced theory as well, have tons of practice- so there is no real advantage you can have against your opponent- you win only if you are luckier on the day... Dollar

i know what youre saying but as with many things in poker its also paradoxical because if you know that person knows the strategies you can mix things up and play off that, an if he knows you know that you can double bluff, an if you know that he knows that you know you can double double bluff.

It's between Siedel, Hellmuth and Ivey for live MTTs, it's very tight indeed as all on your list apart Barry are very good tournaments players but I voted Ivey there... I think u voted Hellmuth because you always hear him saying that he's the best hold'em player in the world... Big Smile

They both make profit playing poker though Blink

For MTTs I would say Seidel is probably the best in this list. But overall Phil Ivey is definetly the best in my opinion, Daniel Negreanu is good also, they both mix up their game pretty well.

If it's live tournaments then it has to be Erik Seidel and Ben Lamb Blink

Also Phil Ivey is good at live mtt and also Phil Hellmuth...

I agree with Hellmuth being on top. He has done it over quite some time. He has that edge, not sure what it is, whether its skill or shear arrogance, but it works for him.

I don't know if he plays on line but I expect if he does most of you would call him a fish or donk. Just shows how wrong we can be.

One day I will be in your top 5 for MTT's - it just takes some time to achieve and I would like it even better if I could meet 8 other Mobsters at the final table of the main event. Let's hope eh!!!!!!

GL to you alll......................

Hellmuth's got the balls, Daniel's got the face, but Ivey's got the robot brain and the feel of the game needed to be named Number 1 imo.
Although I believe Galfond, Elky, Mercier and a couple more are very solid complete players that can only get better by time, I think there will never be another Ivey...

My favorite player from this list his Daniel Negreanu. Phil Ivey isn’t more what he used to be as a player. Some of the last tourneys he went, which BRM followed, it would be expected to see him doing much more. I am not voting for Daniel for the tourneys achievements, but for what he does in special events. He keeps a line of activity at the tables which is very interesting to watch.

Erik Siedel is the best poker pro @ live MTT's imo. Next to him i would put Mercier, Lamb, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu. Also Doyle Brunson but i guess he's kinda retired from big tournaments.
Don't know why you put Barry Greenstein on that list, he has no bussiness being there. He's such an oldskool tight player it's pain in the ass to watch him play. Saw he got blinded away in couple of last tournaments.

Cheers.

Voted for Negreanu, being that he's a major promoter of the game, but Siedel actually had a very successful 2011 and reclaimed the all-time money winner for a while.
