An idea for another competition of sorts.  0
So okay, it's been a while since the last tourney, and any efforts to make a new one have kind of fallen off the map. What I propose is an entirely different competition, a cash game style event.

Concept is rather simple, everyone who signs up has 500 hands of a cash game to play. We can either do a 1 week competition, where results are compared after everyone completes their hands, or we can do a month long competition. Were players are alloted "points" for each week based on how much profit they make. Any negative amount would be negative points of course.

Rules would be relatively simple:

No hands can be played between 2 competing players at the same table. Each of us would sit at our own table. Doesn't matter what room, so long as it follows the following criteria.

All hands must be at a 9max table
All hands are $2NLHE. This is FIRM because it keeps the playing field level.
Players can choose any range of 500 hands they choose. This means if you start off bad, and want to do more than 500 hands, it's your call, so long as you submit 500 hands. Easiest way I can think of to do something like this, is just post a screeny of HEM/PT3 chart. Since both offer a 30 day trial, there's NO reason why anyone can't do this.

Beyond this, not much else I can think of. What does everyone think?

Sounds OK except there is literally no way to ensure no one cheats.. it's not exactly hard to edit a HH before importing it into HEM/PT3.

Damn, you figured out my strategy Smile

Seriously though, I guess anyone involved would just have to be on the "honor system", as it's more of a "fun" community competition. I'm really eager to get something set up, were we can all play together competitively, all while accomodating the different schedules/time zones of everyone.

I'd much prefer a round robin type tourney 4, 6 or 8 max or something. With a mobpoints prize pool again. This time not so lenient on whos involved also, most of the people who were in the last one were never to be seen again.

Your idea sounds far too complex and would just give people an opportunity to cheat. Quirky lil idea but not for me.

I would wager 90% of the players would value the honour system and not cheat, but I know from experience that thinking everyone will is just naive..

You ever played online Scrabble? Words with Friends? Chess? The amount of people that cheat in friendly games (and ruin any fun to be had) is ridiculous.

I also used to play pub league games and in every single league and every single venue without fail once every couple of months somebody would be banned for cheating (usually stealing chips). And these were just friendly games, prizes at best were a few drinks and a $30 venue voucher, etc.

I might still still play this, simply because it's not time-zone restrictive and I can do 500hands in 30minutes. BUT I will say this right now: The winner will almost definitely be a cheat.

Seems nice but i won't be entering this. The only place where i play cash is Yachting and there usualy there's only 6 sit tables working and with enough time of action, so it would be going against the rules. I know you can answer "so go play to somewhere else", but each one knows his limits, and i know that, with my experience, i would be only loosing if i decide to play cash in other rooms. But i wish good luck to all of those who enter this competition, and i'm thrilled to see the results: will it be someone known from the Forum that will get better results at this? Just another note, for the design guys: no photoshop works on your graphs!!! Big Smile

No matter what you do if there is a big number (and not only) of players playing
any game you like, and im not talking about poker, someone will always try to cheat.
You play live backgammon with friends or better yet the so called Tavli in Greece,
and someone will cheat.
And that with no money involved Smile

sounds like a good idea but again as previously stated there is no way to verify that it is done legit, when there is money involved people are always going to try and break the rules...its just in some peoples DNA Disagree

but if you could set something up that is foolproof then you are on to a winner Big Smile

i just wish BRM can arrange on pokerstars a game where it is actually only BRM members, ive seen loads of other private games were you cant evevn try and register as you dont have a ticket..if BRM done this it would be amazing, all they probably need to do is share their database with stars Thumbs Up

goodluck on what ever you arrange Thumbs Up

That's sad to think someone would cheat at any old game money or no money. I actually have an individual I've played such things as aggrevation, chess, etc. and I don't know why or what encourages him to cheat, but he does. It's funny how some people don't care about respect and the gratitude of honesty.

good point- idea certainly haven't fallen of the map. another good point is that people are very passive- they do more talking about how cool it is to play against fellow brm members, but when actually are offered a chance to register to any tournament- boom they are gone, with or without reason, still they are nowhere t be seen- most players i've seen registered in home games tourney is 9 Big Smile super huge figure Shock

anyway getting back to this competition- i suggest organizing a home games tourney- heads up, with deep stacks, game probably nl holdem or pl omaha and since this is for pride only we can go for min buy in $0.11, or even do a play money tournament.
