The Hot $2.20  0
G'day mates

I played the hot 2.20 and I did really well. There was 4300 players and I finished in 38th place.
I raised 4 big blinds preflop and a idiot Russian donk who had shoved all in five hands in a row shoved all in again. I called and he turned over an 8 6 off suit and made a boat with his BS.

Over 6 hours of play to make $17.63 US. First place was more then $1350, needless to say I was a little ticked off.
I want to know if you would have called or do you think I should have folded and why?

thanks in advance

Ronin

Hey Ronin,

Nice result, man. 38th out of total 4300 you should be proud, especially if you played well.

About the hand, you have told what the dumb Russian had - 6 8 off suit.
But what did you have that hand?
I'm guessing AK or AQ?
Smile

Congratulations on getting into the money. Too bad about the donk knocking you out that way. It get's frustrating at times but if you got the chips in with the best of it that's all you can ask. Hopefully next time it works out better.

yeah u didn't tell what u had yourself Ronin, but hey considering that only one BRM member would call that all-in with 27o (yeah i know holdem is not my strongest game) i presume u had a legit hand.
& since the guy was nuts, going all in regularly (probably it's a software malfunction, i think all of the other buttons have disappeared from his table) u made a correct decision- u were in the money already, & knowing that the donkmaster is going all in with all sorts of crap u knew u were getting into an +EV situation...so to sum up: u made a good decision Thumbs Up just unlucky with the timing/cards Thumbs Down
still a decent cash nonetheless.

........................................................................................................................

38th isn't too shabby considering.... Not a BIG pay-off,...but at least you had the opprtunity to get close to the BIG money...

I think you did the right thing based on what the Russian donk was doing.... I've noticed a lot of people play a lot looser deeper into the money... Not me though,...I play tighter if anything...

...Now, you talk of the 'Hot' $2.20 in your thread, but the thingy at the bottom is a result for the 'Big' $2.20,....which is the one that starts here in Ontario at 8:30 pm (9:30pm your time I think) and which I normally play every night....

Isn't the 'Hot' $2.20 the turbo that's played in the mid afternoon...?

Now THAT one has a HUGE pool of cash to be won.... Keep forgetting about that one...

G'day Amigo

Wow you are right. I do not know how the heck I made that mistake.
The game was indeed the big $2.20 not the Hot $2.20. I do not know what I was thinking there.

03/01/2013 The Big $2.20 [$5K Gtd] $2.00+$0.20 38/4300 $17.63...."

the above will show what it was and how I did.
I wanted to win first place so badly but got denied because of a BS Rng which keeps rewarding bad play by the idiot donks.

be cool and best of luck.

G'day mate

I always find it amusing when total strangers who I have never heard of before ask people they never met for money. I mean really the guys has only posted twice i think and he is breaking the forum rules already and begging for money.
I do not mind helping people I know out but complete strangers seems a stupid bet to me.
I know he only asked for $3 but I would rather use it to sponsor the Easter home game then give it to someone I never heard of before.
I hope that does not make me a bad Mobster,

be cool mates and best of luck

Sort of reminds me of Popeye's buddy Wimpey....

"I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today..." lol...

... Hey Ronin,...... was playin' the Bigger $2.20 last night doing better than usual. Went through most of the game with an above average stack... Gettin' close to the bubble starting to stack up even more...

After passing the bubble the luck kept up! Had about $22,000 in chips and started having dreams of making it to the final table...... UNTIL....

...I had a heads up with a guy across the table who was playing loose all along and winning big with questionable junk... So i decided to take him on with my AA/TT..... There was a Jack on the board....
...he had 2 in his pocket... BAM!!! I went from about $22K to $3k in one shot....and my dreams out the window...lol... I did though manage to hang on for a while and walk with about $5....

...also played the Bigger $4.40,....squeeked passed the bubble with about only $136 in chips,....got 2 Jacks, shoved and WON!!! That win allowed me to keep playing for another half an hour or so,...and I walked with about a $9+ win...

Damn Ronin, that's a long time to play for that amount of cash. Not knocking it, at least you made money and probably had fun and that's what matters the most. All I'm saying is in an 18 player SnG for 2.20 buyin you can make $14+ for 1st place and it's pays down to $3,60 for 4th. I know you'd have won big for first, but the amount of time is sure long.

Good Luck and where's that next Poker story?

it's the same to me too, the russian guy all in with 2,9 off suit i kept JJ, another player kept AQ, finally the donkey russian won with 2 pair,i was so angry to it.Now many donkey russians playing poker like that. JJ and AQ definitely we call but the boards sometimes support the donkeys, out of our control man! Aww crap!

G'day Greenmohave

To be honest I have not been writing much because I really thought people had lost interest in the story. I have posted 18 parts and the number of views never changed during parts 16,17, & 18. I truly thought people had just lost interest and stopped reading the story.
Does this mean that I am wrong?

best of luck to you.

Well, you didn’t told us what was your hand… Doing such a move (raising 4 bb preflop) can mean a lot of things: First – you have a small pocket pair and you don’t want too much competition on that pot. Second – You have two high cards that can, in the end, turn into nothing, so once again crowd isn’t welcome. Third – You expect to be called only for those who believe they can beat you, so that you can apply them the no-mercy action.
If you were in first or second situation, you should have folded, if you were in the third situation, you did well in calling.
