Hey all! I was watching some mtt strategy videos and in it the guy uses poker stove (not available anymore) to calculate his equity when making a decision to call an all in. He says "I need 43% equity to make this call" he goes on poker stove puts the opponents range in and his hand and sees if he has the 43% or not.
My question is this: How does he know how much equity he needs to make the call? I've had a quick look around the web but can't find the answer yet so was hoping some of you mobsters can help me out! Thanks

Btw I've never used pokerstove, but I think it calculates how strong your hand is compared to your opponent's range. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PokerStove

naaah i'll just stick to the usual "UB Super User" software. costs more, but has the advantage of u having nothing to predict- press: "open sesame" and baaam u see your opponents hole cards
this poker stove program has one issue- it's free that means less resources in making the program, more bugs, less stability etc. better just stick with the ordinary ones (hem, pt)

Do you know what? All these years I've been playing poker (5) I've never used pot odds to make any decisions, well not properly anyway. No wonder I'm so inconsistent. Can't believe I've been missing this basic but fundemental part of poker! I knew I needed to work on my game but fook me! I need to go back to the start! So stupid!

Hey,....there was a big poker scam going on here in Canada a few years back on online poker tourneys coming from the Akwisasne reserve...
Some guy was winning an unusual amount of games and tourneys,...so they investigated and found out he was using a program just like that...
They were showing how it works,....and ya,...you can see EVERYBODY'S hole cards at the table....

The thing is bullet that the fact you are mentioning though didnt seem to affect you much. Without wanting to jinx you, you had some very good results the way you were playing so far. Maybe you should stick to it
