Why is it every Tom, D**k and Harry fish can always suckout against me, or hit that one card then need 99% of the time and when I try it a few times once in a blue moon I never get f**k all? Just tilted off my BR because of these fish and obviously I am not as lucky as these f**kers.

Just goes to show this is a game of LUCK not skill or thinking.(Online)

I bet its not like that every time but it is ( and this is the main difference) when it most matters to you. I know the feeling mate... playing solid for a while... getting ur game on... and in 1 or 2 hands all goes down the drain coz of some little sewer rat managing to stay afloat at the river Angry
My roll took a giant beat lately also by the same reason. Half you lose in bad beats and the other half trying to hit something when you should already know its not your day...

Variance is a big part of the online poker and indeed downswings can be really, really ugly...

As i previosly said in a different thread i think it's better if you take couple of days off poker and then try again Smile

Know the feeling. If you cant control yourself though after such plays, better take some time off.
Playing mad and angry wont help you. You may get lucky with couple of hands, but thats it.

I only do it when I have lots of outs or good odds like say a straight and flush draw but it rarely pans out for me.

Its all variance though I know.

------------
Just had a guy OOP call my KK 3bet with A10o and hit an A on the flop. Fair enough he could do that but if I ever did stuff like that I would lose every time. Its just stuff like this that gets to me.

------------
Just had another KK and two guys called and went all in. Both low hands suited and one nearly hit a flush on the river but variance was on the right side for once...

Until some guy OOP called my big raise with 22 and of course hit trips then fullhouse to take my profit I made on the KK away. Whenever I call with pockets I get smashed, continuously, but against me they always hit.

Variance hates me. Sad

While that's entirely possible, after all the fact that some have more luck than others, is in itself variance, it's more likely that disappointing results over long periods of time, have a different cause.

Don't make the mistake of blaming variance, when there may well be leaks in your game, that can be addressed, and fixed. There always are...

You can't fix variance (unless you can cheat of course), so just take it as it comes, while fixing your own leaks, and identifying, and exploiting them in others...

Because it's all a game of TOTAL chance..... That's why...! Smile

Instead of just TRYING it a few times, make a point of DOING it for a long period of time,...and you'll hit what you're wanting to...but only VERY occassionally...and in the long run it's a losing way to play...

Trust me,...if you were to watch them over a longer period of time, or many games....you'll see they will almost always lose.... Confused

Playing live IS better! And it makes you a better online player as well. When people rant about losing with the best odds etc etc etc I can't help but get the feeling that they ORIGINALLY learned the game online & if that's the case, you have little chance to be an overall winning player.Taking a few days or weeks off can help but really most of the former live players who have gone to online play clean up against the online players.I'm not speaking about myself as I only play micro stakes omaha and NEVER hold em.I used to deal poker at a private club until around 2003 and know and knew many live pros & they all cleaned up online and most of them stopped coming to our club due to this which sucked for me!! This is why everytime I see a posting about odds this and draws that,I immediately think "Ahhh! Another guy who learned the game online" I'm not certain why this is...could be that you develop a certain instinct about poker in general playing live??? I don't know but these guys were ALL very good players at all games & limits they literally struck fear in all the regulars when they came in to the club.I was in a unique position as a dealer cuz I could observe how they played and saw a LOT of hands.Unforunately none of this ever rubbed off on me or improved my skills lol...I think some people just have a better natural instinct about the game whether it's live or online.Just like any other activity or sport some are just naturals as it were. @lukab - calling them sewer rats would be an insult to sewer rats.

@phisix - chill. if u'r on a loosing streak, cut down on the deposit=lose=redeposit=lose...path, take a break or even better take the longer but safer option once in a while: build roll from $0=lose=rebuild roll from $0=lose...

btw luck evens out in the long run, i can guarantee this...the problem is this:
say you supposed to lose 2 times out of 10 with AA's...you can actually lose $50 on those 2 hands, and win only $25 on the remaining 8...so even though everything seems to be correct on the odds basis...it doesn't look to shabby on the roll basis

Oh I never deposit that much so the losses are never that bad, especially as its usually profit I lose but that is down to my own leaks, stupidity and variance.. I do have leaks as does everyone so I need to work on those, one which is folding more which I did well last night even when I had TPTK and just knew I was beat whereas before I would think I was winning.

I guess my main problem is thinking low stakes and small money is beneith me after I turned that £5 to £450 in under a month with solid poker and solid BR management. My BR is nearly back to what it was after my high yesterday afternoon so I will need to just focus, fold more, play less hands and not get stupid now.

And here we go again with A10 again, why does this b******t keep happening to me. Good old saving people again. I play well and gut crucified for it.

Can someone please explain to me what the actual f**k is going on. I have been robbed of so many big pots because of fish cunts all night, and the stuff they pull off never works or happens for me. Why do they always chase and get paid off regardless of the odds or raises.
