Yeah, I've read a tonne on this story.. Never got around to ordering anything off SR; although I did have a browse every now & again and had an account with some BT in it.
If that site had been around when I was a teenager ... woah!
It's funny, some of the news articles I've read have had quotes by police banging on about how this proves if you do something like this, you're gonna get caught and blah blah.. But SR proves the opposite in my opinion, it was a huge success and considering what the site was, it survived for a VERY long time and when they finally shut it down, they didn't catch the owner by going through SR, they caught SR by catching the owner, which is a very important distinction. It was his mistakes outside of SR operation that lead to his downfall and it was his downfall the led to them seizing SR.
IMHO something similar, better, will come up soon - fill the gap in the market.
On a side note: on bluelight.ru (drug forum) - on the day SR went down, people posted pics of the domain seizure notice and everyone was saying it wasn't for real and explaining why it was a fake/hack etc.. But I knew straight away it was real; had seen the same fucking logo plastered around on Black Friday!

Fucking hell - that's batshit bananas.
Never heard of it before but what a crazy saga. You have to hate this guys callousness with which he orders a hit on a guy with 3 kids...colder than Sibera. That would have been the megolamaniac stage, insane on his own status and unable to come to terms with going down.

silk road 2.0 is reportedly in beta testing and approaching release, and there is other sites offering the same services, 4 uk men been charged in connection too after being traced through digital footprints once the fbi got access and many more will follow but it will never stop ! 1.2bn passed through silk road .... running on the tor network is so hard to trace and if done right totally untraceable ,....... set up and funded by the US too
