Anyone here play Omaha H/L? Just played a random Omaha freeroll and did not notice it was a H/L and was spinning out when people were splitting pots or beating me with nothing lol as I was playing it like normal Omaha, can anyone explain to me the rules?

Pretty simple. Besides the normal Omaha hands, the low also wins, Low qualifies from A to 8 and the best hand for it of course is A,2,3,4,5. Be careful in the split pots.

Posted by Phisix: Well My AA was split with someone else's A2 so was just confused. I won't be playing it again lol.
Half pot you win with high cards half pot you win with low cards. If you had best high and best low cards you would win whole pot.
You had with AA best hand and you won half of pot, same as A2 as he/she won as low hand.
On H/L Omaha you can get alot of money. You need to look at your cards and if you have posible good high and low cards you are good to go. For example A A K 2 or A A 2 3. That cards are good for high and low. If you play againts 1 opponent you will probably split the pot. Play always high nuts cards and if you have solid low, you could win that too. Don't go only on low cards because you could lose alot of money like that.

That explains why it was all confusing. I only played it as I was waiting for a holdem freeroll and I like Omaha. Think I will stick with Holdem and normal Omaha for now as too many new games will get me confused.

When you are confident enough you will start to play H/L too. Everyone started from beginning and they didn't know how to play. Same as me.
You can play 5 card omaha, 6 card omaha. If you can manage to play with 5 or 6 cards in hand . But in this, opponents have more chance to have good cards.
And after that you have Irish poker etc. lol. Have fun !

The most money i have lost total in Omaha hi/lo is due to split pots in more than one way. If you go for the hi in hi/lo most of the times you get the full pot or 100% of the split. It does happen though to split more than once the high and thats the most annoying than splitting the low.
Since i turned to h/l i started getting profit by playing poker.

i've played this format quite a few times and i quite enjoy it,you have got avoid the split pots though when going for the low as it don't half hit your stack if you do split. gl though.

You should definately play more PLO Phisix as i previously said on different threads if you master it you can have a way better winning rate than you can on NLHE
Still, no matter how well you master the game you should ALWAYS expect some significant variance on PLO.
