Did he have all that money in the first play to lose, or he is in a debt somehow. I also wonder if players like him can draw a line and stop playing, or they keep going till they are minus and quit the game once and for all.

i was actually wondering the same thing a couple of days ago. watched some old tourney from 2002 or so when gus was still nobody and he really played ... loose back than, even more than he does today
one guy who got kicked by gus said 'i want to play him every day for the rest of my life', forgot his name though, but maybe thats where gus money goes?

I can admit that you can have really bad downswings especially on the games that he mainly plays like plo and draw games but he is too deep in the hole in my opinion.
I think i read somewhere that poker is not the only source of money from him so this could be a good reason for which he still have bullets to play.

the guy must have loads of money if that's the amount he's losing on-line,either that or he is winning huge amounts playing live,or he has a sugar daddy or he has..........

His recent run of results have been alarming and he must be getting bankrolled by some very rich and understanding friends to keep on losing this much money. He used to be the top player but he is not at the top anymore

Gus Hansen lost more than $200,000 on Thursday, which brings his lifetime losses on the Full Tilt Poker software to $13,998,140, according to H**********B.
Hansen dropped $2 million over the past seven days to send his career deficit on the software to a new all-time low. Hansen has about double the losses of the second-worst tracked online poker account in history.

Besides the fact that Gus Hansen really loses large amounts of money every day I never heard rumors suggesting he is broke or busted somehow. So I suppose he can afford that kind of losses but the question is why?I agree with the majority of previous posts. He plays very loose and represents a way of playing easy to exploit by experienced poker proffesionals. I wonder if he can't adopt new styles of play in a rapid changing game.Always we should have in our minds that other players keep evolving even if they are winning. So we have to be open to new ideas specially when things do not look well for us.

He was in a tournament in Monaco a few years back,it was day3 I think,he never made it to his seat....he was in the lobby of the hotel playing backgammon for $1 million a game... I do think that maybe poker sites are happy to fund the nosebleed play to get us talking.B-)B-)B-)

Either Gus Hansen have a huge bankroll or it's just pride that keeping him from quitting and stop losing money all together.
But I guess he is making money from sponsoring for full tilt and that they give him money to play with. He is a good player but the new players and younger ones are getting better and more aggressive. Anyway if there is a big winner there must be a big loser, but I always like Gus and want him to do good!

I agree with theapple. From all the players i have seen playing on tv Gus is the most aggressive, to a point that i think he needs to calm down a bit. Maybe it is this tactic of him that ruins his game. Annette obrestad (or how on earth her name is) is too aggressive also in a couple of games i have seen her play too
