Irish Rugby Player Sacked By Club Over Poker Game Assualt

This is another story that proves that gambling and alcohol can be a very bad combination. I have seen best friends arguing over the years over a game of cards and i always prefer never to gamble with friends

thats a rather... sexist thing to do :/ to sack someone because his AM (anger management) skills arent that good. wheres this world going to :/

not to mention how having him work on a building site is even more dangerous for people around him Tongue

When e read - "but there was a special clause in his contract that it would terminate if he was convicted.", my mind think that was in the past something that this club see out of control, and now happens this, the convition even not gived, but the club is in this right to break the contract and send the player out.
But overall is a story like others around the casino tables, lose big amounts of money in one hand, and boom.

I don't think this had anything at all to do with poker and just a bad tempered thug who didn't like losing.
Good to see that his club were more concerned that the club had received bad publicity rather than that he smashed up some poor guys face while drunk and gambling.

This is quite honestly THE perfect newsarticle - it had literally everything in it. Punching, frisby, chair, bones, nerves, screws, casino, anger, contract, club, face, conviction and rugby. Poor guy will never going to be able to eat again without some help from a straw and the other poor guy will never be able to pay enough money for this.

Has anyone ever seen rugby? The description in the article sounds (but for the chairs and tables) just like the regular occurrence in rugby most games where someone breaks a finger nail or gets a split end and they all end up punching and biting each other. They then call it sport. How strange the world is!

he definitely have some problems
i mean he totally blew his chance for a better life
the club is totally right , rugby is considered a violent game
but now we see rugby players hitting normal people
that will give bad name and publicity not only to the club but to the whole sport
so they had to take these punishments

They call hunting or chess a sport too (or curling and darts 4 example). Rugby is still above those in my book but I don't frequently watching any of them - maybe curling if some good looking scandinavian chick team plays on the winter olympics.

his contract was not renewed last year because of the bad publicity his crime gave the club. Defence counsel, Ronan Kennedy BL, said Keogh has dealt with his bad temperament and drinks much less since the incident in 2012.

Good for him. If every rugby player was sacked 'cuz bad publicity no one would play rugby.
