Since November 2016 portuguese players have been forced to play only in one room: Pokerstars.PT, since regulations forced a super agreement between Portuguese Gambling Regulators and Pokertars.
Although it's Wednesday morning by this time there are 14.000 players logged in the poker room (*notice it's only pt players) as you can check for yourself's in the image link below.
Anyway, pt players play a lot of cash games and few tourneys which makes the prize-pools very week. This article means we will be back to the international pool: Pokerstars.Net and tourneys will be interesting again. This is certainly a very big step for the pt online poker players and I thought might be interesting to share it with you.
This article has been released in the 4th April but I only found it now, here's a catch:
The European Commission has approved a technical standards paper submitted by the Portuguese gambling regulator – Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) – that sets a technical standards framework in relation to the provision of iGaming services.
Among other important things, the legal document also makes it possible for Portugal to enter online poker shared liquidity agreements with other European regulated markets.
Again in another country restrict the rights of players ... I can not understand why all this is done? ... people themselves have to decide where to play them and the restrictions only lead to anger ... can someone explain to me why they introduce restrictions ???

Yes I can pajalnick. Unfortunately, I was born in a country of accommodated people who let themselves be puppets by whatever the rules our government just pop's up with... having no balls to react... And the government itself wants to suck out our money in our every move.... so in 2015 they had the bright idea to ban online gaming forcing pt people to gamble in PT games in which they could have their cut. Therefor, the government realized they have to suck out a % from the online poker rooms if they want a permit for the country.
I guess their next move is to insert coin slots in our houses toilet seats for every time we want to have $**T break. I really HATE to have been born in this country.

O am happy that your country will be allowed to enter the bigger players pool, all these politicians think of some strange rules ans restrictions, in my country we are also left with one legal ppker room, every poker site can vet a license to operate here, but many requirements and for a small country like mune no ppker room cares to invest in licenses

For Poker Stars it was a nice situation, like a monopol kin Portugal- But for the players there it was not so good, they can't choose between different poker rooms a promos. I cant't believe, that no other room can get a serious license for gambling.

In Russia until recently, you could safely play poker and bet, and then withdraw money on a visa card ... but now if you play or make bets with a positive balance, you have to pay taxes ... better than absolutely No way

well yeah just like dacapo pointed this- pokerstars basically has a total monopoly in the market which is kinda rare thing to be fair... probably it's a good thing to the Portuguese dudes since they now are in a bigger pool, but hopefully it's just the beginning and with time all of other rooms will be there..
