PokerStars is lossing money?  0
Today I readed a news that got me a big surprise! copy and paste for you:
PokerStars suffers the fall in revenue
A recent report by The Stars Group, parent company of PokerStars, shows how the online room has recorded losses of 10.4% at the close of the 2019 balance.
Things do not seem to go quite well for PokerStars after The Stars Group (TSG), parent company of the online room, has made public the results of its latest financial report and the numbers are not very encouraging as far as poker is concerned .
The data announced last week correspond to the final quarter of 2019, when poker revenues fell 10.4%. This also implies that PokerStars contribution to TSG was reduced by 7.4% by the end of last year. This downward trend was maintained during the last 12 months; In 2018 the total contribution of the room to the company was 32.8% while in 2019 it was 27.5%.
However, not all is bad news for The Stars Group since the losses it has suffered on the one hand, it has managed to win on the other. Now sports betting is the biggest contribution to the company with 39.1% compared to 30.8% from casino games.
These results could be taken as a general trend of the industry that has seen a change in dynamics with the appearance of the so-called social poker where some companies like KamaGames, created in 2010, and offering this type of game has had a sustained growth of 18.3%, which represents an income for the European company of about 90.4 million dollars in 2019."

I wish that the translate be good...

The article just states that Stars made 10% less money in 2019 than in the year before, but not that they would lose money. I guess it would be quite difficult to actually lose money with a market leader like Stars.

... Big Smile< ...That's right...! They are the number one operator in the online poker industry...! I just can't figure out why they would locate themselves in Canada as their head office... It's certainly not some tax dodging tax haven here for all the billions they rake in... Confused

yeah, this is strange news and something is wrong or it was bad translate or somebody made big mistake!to lose lot of money and that they dont earn as they were, this is big difference,so this kind of news everybody need to check before they write it or publish!would be nice to give us link for this news?!

Pokerstars suffers from the marketing decisions it has made in recent years. When they learn to appreciate the weaker players, as they do with medium or large gamblers, then maybe the situation will be remedied. I can play legal poker there, but i don't want to. I prefer sports betting.

Dear dule-vu, if BRM allow me to put here the link of the new, i would be grateful to do it. But, in the middle, you could think that I´m a big boy and, at this age, I really learn to read. Especially when I have to choose my news source, I´m really carefully. I assume that the news might be right, because Amaya Group was doing some bad changes, and in the last time there are born a lot of new sites Agree

well two members before me did say that its wrong information and that they didnt lose money in last year, only that they did earn only less money, which is two different things!
for me also is hard to believe that such a big company can be on lose!on poker they cant be on loss, because of rake,so only maybe on sport betting, but again its hard to believe!on casino section there are probably in profit also!

I also don't believe that pokerstars can loose money with that poker site , those numbers don't tell all , just like dule-vu and few of my friends who play poker long time say , about this poker site busines ,
House win every time even some players win something.

Pokerstars had a fabulous success before. Many years ago they earning in every day an amount between 3 and 4 million dollars. This was a huge profit for the old owners. Amaya group that transformed into Stars did the bad thing and lost players. This is it.

Yes might be true that they lost much players , it can happen to any poker room if make some changes what players don't like or some other poker room found good way to get players.
Think mostly players go many different sites and they found favourite site where they mostly play until site change something...
It's all the time competition about which site can keep players or found new players.

I also discussed it elsewhere . There they told me this happens because less players choose to play online poker nowadays , less deposits and money in the system/poker ecology also . Maybe the recreational players or the ''whales'' are less and spend less than in the past .

Idon't know for sure , I don't agree with these statements , imo there is a kind of poker boom now , but maybe it's only or mainly for live poker ?? These black friday scandals have treymatised online poker so seriously .

But still for me is very strange when we talk about PokerStars to have less profits . They do everything to win more , less freerolls , less rakeback , more rake (...is better Smile) , they give more freerolls or promotions to players who will keep on playing and wagering the profits/winnings from these freerolls , sports betting and casino is also on their lobby to make some of these players play poker games and vice versa . They do everything possible to win more , but they have losses . A mystery ...

So Stars is winning more from sportsbetting and casino rather than poker ??For casino is not strange , casino profits go better and better , people like playing in casino games , revenue is big worldwide for casino operators .

... Big Smile< ...I've said it before,...and I'll say it again.... PokerStars got WAY TOO greedy a few years back by dropping most of their lucrative freerolls and jacking up the rake on all the rest... Thumbs Down

... Big Smile< ....THEN they choose Canada to be their headquarters.... This is not being very Canadian in my opinion...! PooPooStars... Confused

In this group that owns Pokerstars are several people who are very hungry. Their greed led to this situation and at this moment they are amateurs. There are plenty of methods and solutions to attract gamblers but nobody don't try.

they can have less profit, but they cant lose money!if people dont play so much poker like it was before, that doesnt mean that poker stars will lose money and will earn less that they need to pay players!so people talk about two different things!

I haven't played here since 2019 poker with real money ( except for a few games with buy-in under one dollar ) and i tried but the cards offered by the spftware of Pokerstars are the same like in the past. I don't like bad beats because there are too many and because of that the players leave this room.
