Strange play  0
Hi
I was playing on Titan Poker 0.50$/1$
And I was on the button and the utg raised to 2,5$ preflop. I had pocket tens and every one folden to me, I called and the blinds folded so its heads up to the flop.

Flop comes 2, 7 , 4 All differents suits so no flush draw there.
Okey, the guy thinks for awhile an goes allin about 80$. My stack was about 150$.
I think it and then I call. The guy had 47o.

The Turn is lucky to me and its a 2. So I have the top two pairs, but then the river comes 7.

What do you think about my play here?

I thought he had a straigt or a set, but he has been pushing people out of pots with allin bets before. AA , KK, QQ isnt very likely since the preflop bet was so small and with AKo and etc whats the point to go allin. I was thinking about 56s.

but what do you think?

I think in spots like this you have to play the player and there tendencies.

There are people I play against that are so nitty that I would insta fold a week overpair as I know that all they do is wait for the nuts and then push. Conversely there are players that will push any draw or just play bad and try to constantly bully the table I would insta call.

If I didn't know the player and had no read on them then I would be inclined to fold the tens and wait for a better spot after all this is a massive overbet and if they want to risk $80 to win $6.5 then I can probably wait for the nuts myself and then stack them.

In this spot against an overly aggressive player I would be inclinded to reraise them pre flop and get the money in pre flop if they shove over me. Tens are a good hand against this type of player and way ahead of his range. If he calls then you have a good hand and position on him so it should lead to a +ev situation.

Incidentally If losing $80 to this guy in this fashion bothers you then your probably playing to high. You need to play at a level where you can make marginal calls for your whole stack and not have it bother you if you lose.

Great advice from dellbo99.
Im with the re-raise cus you know he has been bullying the table and over playing hands, i think he feels he can take any pot from any position and needs to be tought a lesson.
You know he is going to bet out agin if you just call pre flop, and knowing his range any flop can be scary, so i think pre-flop is the way to go.

Typical moron play. The flop is that you think that you are ahead. But even if you don't know the player you should have not less than KK to call it. But if you have KK or AA you should reraise it on preflop. I think you can even reraise TT here but I'm not sure.

Your play is a bit strange. If you think that your opponent will raise 65s UTG then you have to reraise with pocket tens and position. At the flop it is an easy fold. Your hand is not strong enough to play for stacks.

man you complain alot about ipoker Big Smile
i think this has less with ipoker to do but with your thinking like your supposed to win 100% with AA KK or any pocketpair. all you have is one pair...
and thats the fun on NL holdem...turn/river can change everything.

@venomly...im not that good in reading ppl (online) as shokaku means you should of reraise. but... all in for a $5 pot Shock ? in a MTT i might do that because i only risk the buy in but in cashgames ?
i wonder how many players would do that?! maybe worth to make a poll out of it.

iPoker really has to do something with their random number generator. Open 2 or more tables and wait for same pocket cards.

If someone has to renew their random number generator, then it is ongame!

Yeap, I think it was pretty dumb calling that when pot had only a few bucks in it.
The main reason Why I called was this guy was pushing allin on the flop to small pot pretty often and he won quite a many pots that way, so I thought he´s trying to buy the pot with some draw, cause he would have outs if someone called.
Anyhow I managed to still end up winning after the sessions, which was pretty nice after that. I think I have to check my pre-flop strategy since I rarely re-raise preflop, even with pocket pairs. Thanks for advise, now I head to adjust my game at pre-flop. Smile

Thats the reason to re-raise :}
Good to see you are taking the advice onboard, but remember this advice is for this sort of play, wich I personally dont see a lot of.

if after the flop you opponent decide to go all in there is a reason ..he can have a top pair (in this case AA KK QQ JJ..a lot of possibility) you must fold because is possible that you lose. But 4 7 is a very strange play...probably your opponent was a maniac player Blink
