hypocrisy gone mad, googles new anti gambling policy  0
please read the bottom of the page first, my opinion of googles new anti gambling policy, What a fucking joke, Why would they do this, the gambling sites will still come up on the normal (search) for key words, but no paid adds on the right of the search screen, im not sure what nitwit political agenda this will serve, its a lose lose situation, google will lose hundreds of millions of dollars and in these economic times thats nothing to sneeze at, and the struggling poker and casino affiliates will go broke (some allready are) they have changed their mind about great britain but only great britain, but get this, its only for (licenced gambling operators) This is going to make gambling sites 10 times more competitive when it comes to SEO because if they dont they simply wont survive. and gambling sites ranked on the number 1 page in google will increase in value, just my opinion anyway, have a look yourself its allready happening, google (poker) no adds, their are some stragglers they havnt cleaned up yet but they say by the end of this week they"ll all be gone. some people are trying to trick google with terms like poker? (one word) i copied the following from the google website.

google new terms and conditions regarding ppc gambling advertising.

Don't promote online gambling or related sites when targeting ads outside Great Britain, Italy, France, or Spain.

Advertising for the promotion of online gambling websites is not permitted to target locations outside Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales), Italy, France, or Spain. Ads for online gambling will not be displayed in other countries.

Online gambling includes, but is not limited to, the following:

sports books and sports betting
lotteries
bingo
poker
sites that provide tips, odds, and handicapping
software facilitating online casinos and gambling
gambling tutoring online
gambling-related eBooks
'play for fun' gambling or casino games of skill including sites where the primary purpose is 'play for fun' gambling
affiliate sites with the primary purpose of driving traffic to online gambling sites

Also if your a referer and you think this wont effect you, think again, if you get most of your traffic through forums your going to get a lot more compitition from now on, if you get your referals because you have a nice page rank with google, good luck keeping that page rank because theses pay per click advertisers will now put their money in SEO, oh and by the way yahoo and msn is fthe same., i know im being a tad dramaitic but im on a roll lol. Cool

in a bussiness thats allready very competitive (affilates or referers) i think this is huge, i think the next 6 months will be very hard us, then i think a lot of people wont bother because in just isnt worth it anymore, then it should even out again as people drop out. people with good google and yahoo ranks will start to get a lot more advertising requests as well Sad

That's crazy, real crazy.

If someone is worried about there referral links, an easy way to see what country they point to is by going to http://whois.domaintools.com/, type in the site, and it tells you what country the ip of the site points to. I just did a couple and williamhill, party poker, ladbrokes are ok as they point to Great Britian.

Oh well, just more bad news for the gaming industry.

yes your right, people gambling wearing a shirt and tie are called investers, television, radio and newpapers have long been out of bounds for certain forms of gambling (in my country anyway) pretty much anything related to the internet, but aparantly, horse racing, lotto, scratch cards, land based casino, poker machines, dog racing, football betting, sports betting in general isnt anywhere near as bad as online poker or online casino, so my point is the internet is the only resort to advertise these companies, now google, yahoo, msn, have pulled the rug out, in their defence though they are not offering any sort of gambling at all, and have been forced into it by our political friends, i wonder what their agenda could be. Spade Question

they are ok if you have a gaming licence, so if you affilatate for those sites you still cant use pay per click advertising with the major search engines. Sad

------------
all governments HATE online gaming, simply because they cant push online gaming companys around like land based companys, if any government trys to up the taxes on these sites the sites just move off shore.
