Phil Hellmuth could no longer contain his ire regarding a fellow high-stakes poker pro wearing a facemask at the poker table, clearly pointing out that except for rare circumstances, "no one should be able to cover their face."
In a two-hour interview with poker journalist Craig Tapscott of Poker.org, the 59-year-old discussed a list of various topics, and one of them is his view on facemasks b[...] Read more » Phil Hellmuth calls out Ike Haxton for wearing a mask

It seems to me that wearing a mask at the poker table should not be a problem for other players, since no regulations are being violated, and you also have to have empathy for the person who wears it, which may be due to health issues.

But if they think it is an advantage because those who speak do not also put on their masks, there is nothing wrong with that, but we all know what Phil Hellmuth is like, that is why I don't get much attention from this player who is always in the eye of the storm.

Japanese used to wear all the time masks , when they got ill , showing respect to the others . After Corona pandemic situation I see so many wearing mask . It has become sth normal for many people to wear a mask , at supermarkets , or other crowded places . Some poker players might still be doing it . Others they do it just to hide poker tells and body language signals . You cannot say always for sure why . I guess you cannot forbid them from doing so , from wearing a mask at the tables . Why should it be obligatory to show your face at the poker table to the other players , that I do not understand .

I think he is the only player who complains about this, the others do not, that's why this player is very unfriendly and gets angry with anything he sees, he should be punished for promoting hatred among the community.

There are far too worse things out there , the use of masks at the tables in not as important to talk about as cheating , collusion , etc . There are far worse things or tools or ways that done players use to get an advantage towards other players . So many cheatings out there , especially during homegames , the stories I have read about private homegames of wealthy or well known people are unbelievable ..

but so far I have not seen another player commenting something similar, I think Phil Hellmuth is acting very bad, that affects the entire poker community, it seems that he is going too tilt.

But I don't think anyone would keep quiet if they didn't like something, right? I think that until now no one has supported Phil Hellmuth, does anyone know if they have, because if no one does, he looks ridiculous for saying nonsense like this.

It is very true, but I think it will come to nothing because it is very childish of him to mention that, plus he is a poker pro, he should no longer be in those controversies and focus on his game.

Phil Hellmuth has his problems, but in this case he is right. That mask is absurd. You can't insult a great professional player to copy his character, but you can talk about this case.

Everyone has their opinion in this case, but for me I think it has crossed the line, any player can go however they feel most comfortable, at least you can see their eyes, that is my opinion.
